Hey, I heard somewhere that you can get something done to your calc to give it extra RAM. Is this possible without buying a new RAM chip?

Adding it would be the easy part. Someone correct me if I`am wrong but I believe once you have added more memory then you must rewrite the OS to allow the extra memory to be used.

no, I was talking about actually adding more memory. The flash drive is a great way to add memory though the only problem with it is that it does not allow you to run basic programs.

I'm sure they've made it capable of running programs, it's just that they rarely announce it on forums. Usually all the info is available only on IRC.

Press [2nd]+[MEM] and then press [2]. Be carful not to delete things you need, but I think that the foreign language versions of the Apps would be a good place to start. Also because of a recent topic make shure you press [del] to delete things when you get in there not enter.

On a side note starting five month topics again (you did it twice :) ) is not a good idea, you would be better off starting a new topic.

There is no way to get more ram on to your calc. As Nikky said in the second post. No flash drive, program or any other thing will allow it. You may add a flash drive that will allow you to have more arc but in order to run any program it has to be transfered to the ram, and I say again you can't add more ram.

Well I think the original confusion in this topic stemmed from the fact that the 83+SE, the 84+, and 84+SE actually have multiple pages of ram (I think a total of 128kb, though I'm not sure). The problem is that this ram is NOT utilized by the OS and can only be used blocks at a time. One of the few useful things done with this ram is making a backup copy of the calculator in case of a crash (used in Omnicalc) or using it as a saferam area for very long and memory-intensive calculations.

Also, you CAN'T add more archive. It's just like plugging a USB drive into your computer. It gives you an addition area to put stuff but has no effect on your hard drive space.

True. 3fg and just fyi. When I think of arc I think of total memory avalable. You are absolutly right when you say you can not add arc to the calc itself. Sorry if I confused any one.
