you have the fourms there and i like the topics. but there is one thing that cas stuck out in my mind... on the fourms page when you are reading people's posts there is no button to go back to the topic ( at least that i can see) maby you could add one.

dude, this is the least of the forums needs. I just realized you can't even "quote" other's in posts. But enough of the negativity from me. I love this place. :)

If not a tad simplistic......... ;-)

It may suit the need, but what is wrong with desiring some basic features?

We can probably implement an options to quote a post but then again, its still doesn't point to the post or general area where the text came from as it might in a threaded forum so not much help. Though, quoting option wouldn't be too hard to implement if enough people would find it good to have (I know you would stepehen since you want to have a million features. lol).

Edit
I'd just be a words filter, wouldn't it? Replace <quote> with some HTML coding, and </quote> as well...

*holds up a picket-sign*

*chants*:
"We want features! We want features! We want features!"

You guys syndicate XML news feeds. This is uber-cool. But I cannot live without my quote-feature. I'm a simple-minded person who is easily confused by people using just plain quotations-marks to indicate they are responding to another member's specific comment.

One thing I do like is the speed of this forum here, I'm a dial-up guy, and it is a lot faster than many other forums I frequent.

this could be due to the forums simplicity. using html instead of BBcode or whatever probably helps too.

You know, there are navigation buttons in the bottom-left corner...

Here's the deal:

for this website's purposes, Teemz is the pert for virtually any other types of websites, Teemz does not produce a very competitive product. I understand it is free, but there are still several free forum software solutions out there that are incredibly superior to Teemz......

At anyrate, the PHP-based forum software solutions allways seem to have all of the advanced features. Perl works well for many things, but PHP seems to be the forum-coder's language of choice. And I say this purely based upon the number of perl-based boards verses the number of PHP-based boards that are currently avalible out there. :)

Just my humble thoughts, anyhoo....

For the last time: WE ARE NOT GOING TO CHANGE TO A NEW FORUM. THE ENTIRE WEB SITE IS BASED AROUND TEEMZ. THE NEW VERSION OF THE SITE WILL HAVE AN IN-HOUSE FORUM. That is all.

Bah. You can quote stuff via copy/paste and HTML italics tags. You can go back to the topic using the browser's back button. I know most forums have crap like that integrated but you guys are wimps if you can't handle "roughing it" a little. Go check out the ti.com discussion groups. Plain text ONLY. No BB code, no HTML. Quoting stuff is an enormous pain in the ass because I have to manually insert a | at the start of each line text that I copy/paste in as a quote.

Here's how we go to previous page: alt + <--

And going back to why better forums are PHP based is because its far easier and quicker to template things with PHP, one could make such forums in Perl too but why do it when it's easier with PHP. There are of course perl modules that enable easier templatng, but PHP already has this built in. Regardless, like Andy said, this is the forum and that's it. Some asked features may be added if enough people want them and find useful.

will this in-house forum be basicly the same as it is now or will there be big changes? I think that this forum is fine the way it is.
