Sorry to double-post, but I see no edit buttons here.

I think there should be smilies on the forum, even though it is still under construction, smilies would be nice.

Nope, we have no idea why they broke in the first place since nobody edited aynthing. It seems to be caused by incorrect content-type headers but they're all in the script just like they used to be. Loading a backup file of when it used to work fine, produced same result so I'm not really sure what's to blame but it doesn't seem to be forum related, more like some other server related or perhaps apache thing? I'm yet to contact our host, whenever I have time it's too late to chat with them but if someone else can perhaps inquire them about any recent updated they may have deployed it'd be nice.

If we can't get it fixed, I could (when I find the time) look into rewriting the cookie code (since that appears to be the problem), but contacting the hosts could be helpful, since we didn't do anything to cause this.

Maybe our host changed some of the settings on the server that's causing the script to read the cookies wrong?

Just a thought.

As I posted in the discussion, I saw that the report file feature now makes you be logged in, so I was wondering when that was implemented, and if that might be interfering with the script in some way?

Just tryin to toss ideas out that might help...

Well, I spoke to the host and they said they did not updated anything. They said last updated was just a php update and even that was like january 29 or so. As with our problem they couldn't suggest anything and pointed me to error logs which as I've already checked did not reveal anything CG related but rather some sql errors from the design.cg.org code. Basically, we still don't know what causes the problem but it could be something to do with baking cookies since other scripts seems to be able to read off the user (if you were logged in) or at the least already stored cookie on the computer but this is at least something. I'm just terribly busy atm and unfortunately don't have any time to look into the problem any firther till weekend, if you Allyn can please take a look and see what you can do. that's be very nice.
Thanks.

Why not just start a completely new forum just like the old one (minus the forum being dysfunctional)?

Probably because the old one actually worked and they (by they I mean Nikky and Z) don't know why it got borked.

Yes lunchbox, you've got it right. Also, the whole site framework was built around it and none of us have the time to just get it all recoded all of a sudden. But again, we don't know why it broke down since none of us actually edited anything and host claimed that they didn't update anything either. So atm we're still puzzled and are looking for what might have caused it to just die out like that.

I'll try to find some time this weekend to poke around the scripts a bit. Meanwhile, I'll probably take off the forum link from CG main site and replace it temporarily with link to here. I should have done it the first thing but never really had a chance to really sit and do it.

I've also noticed that the login system (on this site) seems to have problems, too. Whenever you login, you have to refresh the forum page to get it to recognize that, and, also, it doesn't automatically mark the forums as read when you logout then log back in.

I've been looking over the code and turned on server side error messages, but that hasn't helped any. We're getting errors from tzlib, tzlogin, and tzstripped, different scripts that do the same thing. I literally have no idea what the problem is, nothing we changed could have done this, not of this magnitude.
