Underclass hero Probe Posted: 12 Sep 2008 17:07 GMT Total Posts: 2 | okay well heres the story:
I've had this calculator for a few days, I need it for school.
So last night i put the games: packman, tetris attack, and super mario bros on my calculator, also with an Ion shield program thing.
so, when i press progream they appear under the A that came up after installing the ion.
so today i put some more games on there, such as contra and frogger, but they don't appear under the A, after pressing program(prgm) i just scroll down and there they are. however, when i press enter after highlighting one, an error screen comes up and says:
"error: memmory" or "error: syntax" and now the game files that I have under A arn't working either. is there any way i can fix this? thanks for reading :D

The * means that the file is in your ARC memory, which you have tons of. ARC memory is like storage, RAM memory is what you use to play games. When you run a game from ION, the game is taken out of ARC and into RAM, and then placed back when your done. Your RAM memory is small however, so you should keep all the programs in ARC. |

BASIC Games: Much simpler not as much graphics, run slower, etc. You can make them on the calc though and the commands are very easy to learn
ASSEMBLY Game: Super fast tons of graphics, games like Pacman, Pheonix, Falldown, and all those fast games. You can make minor forms of these games on the calc (HEX assembly) but for the most part it's done on the computer Very hard language to learn but has tons of advantages (EX: Better graphics faster run time)
So, you probably mostly have ASSEMBLY games as there the funner ones to play. You may have some basic games though. ASSEMBLY games can only be run through Shells like MirageOS, so they automatically show up there. BASIC games however have to be modified by the programmer to show up in MirageOS. You can run them normally though through the program menu (Press PRGM button). If you have an ASSEMBLY game archived, it won't matter because you run it through MirageOS, and MOS automatically unarchives things when running them. If you have a BASIC game in archive and run it through MOS, it will work to. But if you try to run a BASIC game through the PRGM menu and the games in Archive, it won't run.
Also you can not run ASSEMBLY games from the program menu, only a shell.
So, you can archive ALL of your assembly games and get no problems, but if you run any BASIC games for the program menu, you have to leave them unarchived.
phew, if you have questions ask. |
