bjcrunner Marine Posted: 20 Jan 2008 12:24 GMT Total Posts: 27 | Hi everybody. I have a Ti-84+ SE and cannot put the ION shell on my calculator, and therefore, none of the good games like mario, etc. When i try to send it to my calculator it gives me an error message saying something about a distribution list coming back.
"Errors occurred while sending ion.8xg. A distribution list, containing the device(s) which returned an error, was created for each file."
Please help. I don't think ION is compatible with TI-84s. Does that mean I can't use those programs? Is there a version of ION for Ti-84+ SE? Thanks. |

second, mario is probably not showing up in mirageOS because you don't have enough memory
third, u cannot open Mario normally because it is a Assembly program, assembly programs have to be opened with a shell (mirageos, doorscs, ion, etc.) if you open them normaly ull get that syntax error
so, check your memory and post it |

go to your memory again, and after the last step press 1 (All) this will show you all the stuff thats on your calc, use enter to star (*) things, if programs have a * that means there in your ARCHIVE memory which you have plenty of, star everything u can until you reach programs called L1, these aren't programs these are lists, and once you reach lists on your calculator that means you've passed all the programs. press clear, ur done
once you've done this check your ram again, it should be significantly larger
also try a garbage collect to sort out your calcs memory, press 2nd and then 0. press G (no need to use alpha with it) and then enter. Press enter again, and then the calc will ask u if you want to garbage collect, choose yes. It may take a while but it is helping your calcs memory. |
bjcrunner Marine Posted: 20 Jan 2008 17:49 GMT Total Posts: 27 | okay did all of those things, my RAM is much better, but i still can't see mario in mirageOS. |
bjcrunner Marine Posted: 20 Jan 2008 17:49 GMT Total Posts: 27 | mario is not archived

what mario did you download? did you get it from the assembly games? have you checked the folder in MirageOS, its automatically called MAIN, just press second to open it
can you see any of your other games in MirageOS? |

bjcrunner Marine Posted: 30 Jan 2008 12:21 GMT Total Posts: 27 | i downloaded both of these several times. neither worked http://calcg.org/cgi-bin/files.cgi?id=435 http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/192/19225.html
i know how to navigate into mirage, and i have ztetris, monopoly, and anarchy in mirage that i use regularly. i have this same problem with baseball '99, pheonix, pacman 99, and desolate as well. i'm sure its not the memory.
one more thing.... in the device explorer, i see two mirage files, one that says applicationVA and is archived. does this have any significance? also i'm on mac os x leopard. dont know if this helps... |

It gives it the name of "MirageOS," the same as the application itself. This AppVar just happens to save your settings and password, which is why if you delete it you can get into Mirage if you have forgotten your password.

bjcrunner Marine Posted: 30 Jan 2008 14:47 GMT Total Posts: 27 | any ideas on how to get those programs to show up pheonix? i thought i read somewhere that if you add an extra colon ":" to the beginning of a program ,it will show up but i these programs aren't showing in the edit program menu. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
i got ion to install. mario wont show up there either.
breakthrough! the doors os displays mario, but i get an error when i run it. bummer.
ok guys now i'm really close. i figured out that i needed to add a colon to the program, then i figured out how ti do that, and it showed up in mirage! but every time i open it the screen flashes and goes right back to mirage. i've deleted and archived everything i can i think. i ran a grabagecollect, and i have 22112 RAM. What did i do wrong? Is it still a memory problem? |

Posted: 30 Jan 2008 18:58 GMT Total Posts: 375 | bj actually you don't need to add the colon. What you found out was how to make BASIC programs show up in MirageOS. But mario is an ASSEMBLY program, and most good games are also assembly. So don't worry about the colon, thats not your problem unless your trying to play BASIC games in MirageOS.
how the colon actually made mario show up is extremely weird and random to me.
as for your RAM if you have over 20k thats pleeeeenty. So it's not the colon and apparently its not your memory. If you did add the colon to mario, u might of messed it up. When you edit ASSEMBLY programs on your calculator (mario is assembly) the calc can't edit them, thus when you use the arrowkeys in the program it changes the commands and crap. I dont know how bad it messes it up, but i would reload mario to your calculator and check MirageOS again.
Actually, if you could tell me where you got the program Mario, and give me the link, that would help a lot. |
bjcrunner Marine Posted: 30 Jan 2008 19:09 GMT Total Posts: 27 | calc, i did not edit the program itself. i created a new program that had a colon and an apostrophe and then executed the program. it was this new program thay showed up. i gave you both the urls to the sites i used above. i will post them again. neither of them worked.

Posted: 31 Jan 2008 15:26 GMT Total Posts: 375 | ah yes, when you made the program it would work because u made a basic program, now in ur previous post were u say u added the colon but the screen only flashed and went back to mirage, this is because you don't have anything in the program! all it will do is start, and then stop. You can't expect the blank program to jus run mario, im guessing u forgot to tell us something.
anyways im glad you found the links, i will try to download it and see for myself |
bjcrunner Marine Posted: 31 Jan 2008 17:57 GMT Total Posts: 27 | this is the thread i was looking at http://calcg.org/cgi-bin/forum.cgi?t=8337
maybe pheonix could give me some help. would that work for mario? how do you edit the program to add the colon? |
Xphoenix Ultralisk
Posted: 31 Jan 2008 18:05 GMT Total Posts: 210 | What calcproductions said is correct. The reason adding a colon worked for those other programs was because those were in BASIC. The games you are putting on your calculator now are in ASM, so you cannot edit them (and even if you could, there would be a ton of characters that would make no sense). In other words, you can't edit Mario.
Out of the two links you posted, download the v2.0 (the one from this site). It's newer and . . . Better.
You said DoorsCS displayed Mario, but returned an error. Do you know what that error was? It's unlikely that an ASM program returns an error (either it works or your calc crashes :P).

bjcrunner Marine Posted: 9 Feb 2008 20:22 GMT Total Posts: 27 | yep me2, that's not the problem. i'm sure i'm using the 8xp file and it is getting onto the device, just not showing up in mirage. the dooorscs error is somewhere to start. maybe the definition of that error will lead us to why it is not showing up in mirage.
also, this could be important, i used a friend's ti-84 (not se) and it did the same exact thing it did on my calc. perhaps the problem is my computer. if that's the case i'm using leopard mac os x. could the ti connect software not be working properly on the new os? |
