"The work presumes a standard ofeducation corresponding to that of a university matriculation examination, and, despite the shortness of the book, a fair amount of patience and force of will on the part of the reader." Page 3.
Ok I get that he's saying that the book isn't an easty read but what the $#$@% does he mean by "university matriculation examination". Does he mean that you should have graduated from colledge to be able to read and understand everything in the book?
P.S. I was talking about Page 3 on the PDF file in the actuall book I believe that it was more like 6.

By "original", I mean the one with all the ink blotches and which is written in some bizarre language... anyone know what "großen" means? |

It's only a PDF but it still works. Ah yes your's is obviously scaled down for the common reader. Mine is the original book as good ol' Albert Einstein. Mine is very wordy and almost makes my brain asplode. Your's would be a quick read for me.

I bet it's in mine, because everything that I checked up on was. The only difference that I could find was that my copy had a fifth appendix, while that online copy does not.

So then why did you say that huh? If your's is exactly the same then explain why the begining and the copyright are different. Huh? I asked you a question. I want an answer!
P.S. What is the very first lines of it the preface I mean. Here's mine. I wish to see yours in your next post on this topic.
Here's mine. (look below line) ------------------------------------ Preface
(December, 1916) The present book is intended, as far as possible, to give an exact insight into the theory of Relativity to those readers who, from a general scientific and philosophical point of view, are interested in the theory, but who are not conversant with the mathematical apparatus of theoretical physics. The work presumes a standard of education corresponding to that of a university matriculation examination, and, despite the shortness of the book, a fair amount of patience and force of will on the part of the reader. The author has spared himself no pains in his endeavour to present the main ideas in the simplest and most intelligible form, and on the whole, in the sequence and connection in which they actually originated. In the interest of clearness, it appeared to me inevitable that I should repeat myself frequently, without paying the slightest attention to the elegance of the presentation. I adhered scrupulously to the precept of that brilliant theoretical physicist L. Boltzmann, according to whom matters of elegance ought to be left to the tailor and to the cobbler. I make no pretence of having withheld from the reader difficulties which are inherent to the subject. On the other hand, I have purposely treated the empirical physical foundations of the theory in a "step−motherly" fashion, so that readers unfamiliar with physics may not feel like the wanderer who was unable to see the forest for the trees. May the book bring some one a few happy hours of suggestive thought!
December, 1916
A. EINSTEIN
P.P.S. Make sure you include it. I wish to see where you found the word 'high school'.

Really, I don't know where you've gotten the idea that your mind is so high above everyone else's, nor have I any idea why anything that I've said would cause you to freak out and take on an angry and offended mood. I won't bother scanning anything else; just flattening the book out for scanning the preface has hurt its binding.

Posted: 25 Oct 2007 10:56 GMT Total Posts: 612 | I never said that my mind was greater I was just saying that your version is different than mine. Ah yes inside cover. I understand now. I understand everything thus far, except what I've previously said before. The only sad thing is that I don't remember all of the formulas. :(
Ok I understand now. But you could have just typed it all up. But also the (C) on mine has ended so thus I can freely distribute it easily. Ah yes but still though not everything in there could be understood by a standard high school graduate. Trust me I know a few people who would agree with what L said. The most basic things require the reader to really think. In one part he freaks me out by saying what he believes what I'm going to say.
I'm happy now.
Edit by L: Don't spam.
