It is much easier to suggest solutions when you know nothing about the problem.

Open License or open source?

-quoted directly from most movies that don't exist (and some that do).

If everything had an open lisence, that would mean that toddlers could drive, and we'd all die since they wouldn't understand that crashing into other things isn't funny with the big cars.

To qoute http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open-source_software that haveacalc set a link to.

"Software developers may want to publish their software with an open source software license, so that anybody may also develop the same software or understand how it works. Open source software generally allows anybody to make a new version of the software, port it to new operating systems and processor architectures, share it with others or market it."

What I mean is that any and all software should be free. Windows should cost 5 bucks rather then 200. The $5 would just cover material cost. The only thing that you should pay for is hardware. Hard drives and stuff like that.

Microsoft open license is a bunch of crap. From what little I read it is a word game to make it sound like it's free. When in reality it is one license that covers more then one computer. You still have to pay for it.

@Banjo: Did you say what I think you said? Why would any one even suggest something like that?

Sorry about that. What I meant to say is that I don't think Superblah is going to be much of a problem, because I have erected a series of barriers that will probably impede his progress here

Sorry about that. What I REALLY meant to say is that "Open License is a fiendish plot devised by Microsoft to make people think they get stuff free when in fact they are paying more. Open SOURCE, on the other hand, can rock."

True very true banjo.
Just to clarify what I mean again. I got Open License not from Microsoft, but from open source software license.
We tend to shorten things where I'm from. :) Sorry if there is any confusion.
