MySQL is teh borked | | Of course, as soon as I finally get this posted MySQL works. Go figure. Oh well. I'm posting this news after discovering that MySQL is teh borked right now. Most of the site is not working, and I'd be surprised if I can post this news using the form (like I'm trying right now). Forums, files, menus -- all that stuff is down. Front page news and static pages (if you can remember the URL for them) are just about all that's working. Anyway, I don't know anything about getting it fixed, you'll have to wait for Nikky to wake up (unless it fixes itself somehow). No clue what happened to make it break, but from the crappy error messages we have (TODO: Have better MySQL error messages!) and from phpMyAdmin, it appears that either there are too many database connections and/or our username and/or password are suddenly "wrong". Please stay tuned for all further developments. If you need to contact us during this major outage, please /join #CalcGames on EfNet or send an email to admins@calcgames.org. We appologize for any inconvenience. Sorry for that posting twice, I didn't know what exactly I was doing. Oh well, I got it up there. | 9 Aug 2005, 07:08 GMT |

| Re: MySQL is teh borked | Andy | Anyway, long story short: I got a nice obscure error message on most of the site... I figured the news poster wouldn't work (it didn't), so I tried editing the news text file manually. I got it in there but it broke the front page for some reason, ehh, whatever (perhaps I forgot to set some permissions?). Anyway, I made a hacked up version of the news post script that didn't verify who posted it, and used that (and deleted it immediately after, replacing it with the normal version). Of course, right after that, MySQL worked again. Go figure. | | 9 Aug 2005, 09:28 GMT |

| Re: MySQL is teh borked | zkostik | Lol, you hax0r! I'm glad it works again, maybe our host just upgraded/rebooted their SQL server or something...

| Re: MySQL is teh borked | allynfolksjr | *yawn* I was asleep, woke up and saw a bunch of highlights on IRC. Yeah, I suspect a reboot or something. I guess it was a "too many connections" error, so perhaps it was a DoS attack on one of the other sites on this server. Hm, well, it's fixed now. | | 9 Aug 2005, 10:53 GMT |

| Re: MySQL is teh borked | Andy | The new site said too many connections; phpMyAdmin said wrong username/password. | | 9 Aug 2005, 11:03 GMT |
