Hello, I have a TI-89 Titainium(sp?).

I have no idea of how to perform "root" problems.

For instance, what buttons would I need to press to type this into my calculator:

3 root-symbol 7

Also, what buttons would I have to press in order to type this in:

cube root-symbol 5

I just cannot seem to figure out how to do this. Thanks.

Try seven to the 1/3 power.

And don't forget the ()s... for example, the cube root of seven (or 7 to the 1/3 power) would need to be 7^(1/3)

Yeah...there's no built-in function for it.

Nope. If I recall correctly, the manual even shows a possible BASIC function a user could write that would do that.

The manual simply tells you that the cube root is the same thing as to the one third power.

Oh...I understand what the problem is: it's just like on the advanced mode for the Windows calculator; for roots, you have to do x^1/y, where the root is y√(x).

(By y√(x), I mean that y is the root power, not a factor of an equation.)
