I just want to say that I've finally got around to go thru the file queue and add them all in. My apologies for taking so long, I was too busy past few week. It wasn't like me, I only visited our board once for that time. Anyway, everything's up now. Please let me know if anything is wrong or needs changing/revising.

Also, a file named MagicBall by J Clendenen was corrupted. Please resubmit your files and it will be added to our archive.

Thanks everyone for their uploads and for your patience. :)

NOTES:

To everyone - Please write readme files. These are important part of your file upload and are helpful to newb users. It doesn't take long to write a readme, so please do so. This will provide our users with better quality files and will also make your release more presentable. Thanks.

To CalcFreak and some others - Please submit screenshots in JPEG or GIF formats. Only these files will be posted from now on. It takes a lot of time to review files and I just can't go and manually convert screenshots myself because you didn't bother to do that. Please help speed up file queue processing by submitting screens in the above stated formats ONLY. Thanks guys, I hope you understand.

I thought It said that only JPEG and GIF files were the only screenies accepted on the upload form. But I guess it the same reason that people don't see IN BIG BOLD LETTERS that to read the FAQ before asking a calculator question.

Maybe to speed up the file upload process, do something like ticalc's thing, where you can (as the user) filter out bad stuff, but maybe a seperate page for that...

And since the archives have gotten alot bigger since the first time I came here, (alot bigger), catogories might be in order...
Oh, I'm stupid, you do have catorgoires, but maybe move the links to the top of the file archive page?
Did that make any sense at all?

A lot of calculator games are straightforward. In fact, pretty much all of them are.
However, as Z said; it makes it more presentable. A lot of users expect them to be, and they are good guids for newcomers. If nothing else, they add that extra touch to that program you spent so much time coding. And once you write one readme, you can obviously just use the same format for the rest of your programs.

I always read a readme...
you know, contact information, disclamer, who made it, how it works, maybe a history of the program, bug fixes...etc. They just make it much more professional, usually I don't download a game on my calc if the readme is missing...

Readme is useful just so the person can know what it's about and what kind of game it is, a deeper representation than the simple program descriptions. Also, (more for ASM programs) it helps keep track of version number and the differences between each version.

But I hate those really, really long read-me's.

Why? They explain the program version history, the full features, commands, etc. And if it's a game, it gives a background, I like the really long alot better than the short ones...

And your avatar is out calcfreak...

Yeah I know, but who has time to read all that? They ought to just say the good stuff.

My avatar is fine.

I have time, or at least when I do I read the readmes. Once you understand what being a true "calc freak" really is, then you'll probably understand why we say read readmes. But if your like most of the population of the US, you never read readmes or manuals...

I'm staying out of this.

Most people read readme files, some for info and other just for the heck of it. Some people may want to contact you or see your website if they like your program, how will they do that if there's no readme file. And yes, like someone said above, you can just write one readme and use it as template. This is in fact what we do with Tankers 68k maps. It'll only take you about 5-10 minutes to come up with a readme file and that will make your game look a lot better. Often these little details play an important role and will show people that your file had time put into it. Anyway, do what you want with your files calcfreak, I was just suggesting an idea so that you can improve your files. This is all up to you though.

To allyn: screens are included in zip, only jpeg/gif will be posted from now on. it does clearly say what we accept and what we don't on our upload page. i didn't know it was so hard for people to read. and with all the uploads and my lack of time i simply can't go and convert all the screens that were upped in a wrong format. as i said, pls upload only correct formats and that will in turn speed up approval process and make everyone a little happier.

If people read the readmes/faq's, we wouldn't have to answer so many questions.

Mostly I peruse readmes quickly and go back if I experience any troubles or can't figure something out.

Either format. Though Gif can be much smaller sometimes.

Gifs usually do better than jpegs for calc screens, at least most b/w ti83+ screens. there isn't such a great difference in size though, so i don't think it really matters when it comes to low res calc screenshots.
