about other platforms besides 68k. Just a suggestion: some people (not me) get ,most of their info about the TI world here, so maybe you should post some about 83/+.

Okay, how about Firetrack 2, the 83+ space shooter? Graphically, it's FAR more advanced than Pheonix, Phantom Star, or Platinum for that matter. It's news on ticalc.org. It's in b+w, with path-based enemies, scrolling landscape, some of which you can destroy for points, powerups, parallax scrolling stars, etc. It's a great game!

Yeah, it's been bugging me that I can't get excited with all this stuff about the Ti89 or Ti-VB. I agree with dysfuntion.

Besdies, I could just go to ticalc.org and read the exact same article . . . .

We coudl put out news on every new version of phoenix, that'd probably create quite a bit of news, but patrick davidson isn't updatingn so much these days, I guess he decided to stop before he broke ticalc's download counter.

Imo, there's really no point i reposting news that is on several other calc sites, because not that many people visit our site exclusively. To post news, you have to be fast.

Maybe a submit news ability for regular users Z? Then it could be reviewed by admins.

A queue might be nice, but I'd say leave it be for now. Hey, dysfucntional (I know your comment wasn't personal) I just want to point out that I only post 68k type news since my knowledge of calcs is about well, 68k. you can try to hassle Z to post z80 relevant news, but I think he'd prefer staying lazy and just read it instead ;)

Yeah, nice idea D. I'll see if I can cook something like that.
I'll have the news ideas sit on a new list for 3 days and then go to the other list. Regular users will be able to see the new list and award score point to each article. Admins will be able to look at the article and take them as news.
Or should the news not be visible after posted and instead, let admins score them so that we can decide which one to put up?
Ideas and details are welcome. :)

I think what we should do is, regular user submits article, one of the admin OK's it.

It gets put on the frontpage, then peopel that come can rate the article. Your method seems too slow Z, in 3 days, news is already getting somewhat old.

Yes, I must agree with spiral.

Cause, if we read the news articles while rating them-um, then it's no longer news Z! We already know it by the time it hits the Home page. :)

Anyways, I think that you guys should have the final say, I mean, we, the users, already get to do sooooo much, like review files, have nice profiles!

Let the admins excersise their priveleges and the users excersise theirs.

>>Yes, I must agree with spiral

So your obligated to obey him now? ;)

>>[What Z said]

I also agree with spiral, have users submit, admins O.K.. Can you create a script to determine if a article is okayed and then once it reads as true have is autopost but under the name of the admin who okayed it?

Edit: Actually I should ask "When" you will do it instead of "Can" :img13:

I saw it but I haven't tested it. Also there is another raycaster out there that is similar to FAT. I wish the other admins saw this because I get tired of posting news all the time. If you guys want I can be the honorary local informant (I'll post all the news that is relevant like voxel and the new raykaster).

Um, Digital, I sort-of understand what you mean . . .like a place where you just type in the news with your name and e-mail address and then click the "submit" button. You can get those kind of codes at bravenet.com-I've actually used them before and the work very, very well.

Or, Z could just make one.

Ironically, Dysfunction is the one that asks us to post the new 68k news. I haven't test Voxel either, because I've just found that loading calc stuff is just a pain in the butt.

Calcfreak, I think Z is busy with the chat implementation right now.

Thats not a pain at all. Since OS X is hardly used, I have to compile the binaries myself and then install it through Terminal (Unix). Try and top that.
