If this already exists I'm *really* not very observant, but it would be kinda handy to have a members directory, and/or a messaging system.

what kinds of features would this member directory have?

with nearly 7.5k members it wouldn't be able to list everyone, but a "search" is possible, although that wouldn't be very useful.

My first thought would be just a list with the names being just links to their profiles to save space and time, although making links to so many people's profiles would still take a while. To be a tad organized, the list could be sorted amongst members/site admins/forum admins/etc (although forum admins are still considered members, aren't they?...I mean the member-created forums down at the bottom, like mine, amongst many others), whether just categories on the same page or links to each, and probably alphabetized. Maybe there could be sorting options like first letter of names (alphabetize), activity (either total number of posts, number of posts within the last x days, or the last time posted), and that sort of thing. I'm just thinking out loud here, a member directory would certainly take quite some time regardless.
If a member directory isn't possible, at least a search feature would be nice.

Yep, as of now, 15 shy of 7.5K. I didn;t think that many were here. Call to the unknow: He guys, speak up we'd love to here from you. A searchable directory would be nice, even if it is for making the site more complete.

A member directory is definitely possible. Only questions is the purpose of such a thing. I only see a statistical value but general visitors wouldn't bother with that. We need to have this idea better thought thru and outline exactly what we want this directory to list. Or well, it can of course be based much like our current site search where one would select stuff he wishes to see and then run a search. What say you?

man would that be nice. Manualy searching digital data can be tedious to say the least. Epecially with how OT we can go at times.

Post searches would indeed be handy. Never really thought of that. Maybe every so often they could be archived (disappear from post list, but not actually gone from existence), then the ability to search the archives or something.

archives probably woudn't work out. this forum doesn't support that feature and coding that in and updating the db would be really hard in impractical. the search thing is quite possible on the other hand and i'll give it a try sometime soon. i'll let you guys know when a beta test is ready.

Just to make an update here, I am now working on a user search feature and below are the features I have decided to include.

username field
devices owned field (comma separated keywords)
registered timespan selection
status

Below are the details that will appear on the results:

username
registered date (from oldest to most recent)
link to user profile
number of posts

(other possible options)
number of files reviwed
number of files rated

these options may not be in our final release if i determine that they take too much server resources. that will of course be determined once these features are coded in but till then you'll just have to wait and see. this may turn out to be an admin/mod only feature.

BIG NOTE: emails WILL NOT be displayed by the search, even if user didn't hide it. to see emails you'd have to click the profile link.

Please comment on these currently worked on feats and let me know if you think something else should be added as well. Thanks.

Add Platform since some TI-Connect issues are platform dependant

Well D, platform is just a random string so that's why there's a keyword based search for that. I could add a whole platform string to each found entry or we can also make an extra table column that would say that platform keyword(s) have matched too. I'll see if I come up with anything better but till then, I'll just try to code other basic parts because I barely started on the script.
