Hey,
I know I'm new here and all, but I just have to say that the fist thing that comes to mind when I see this site is color scheme. The dark blue on darker blue on black just isn't working with my eyes. Just put a little more contrast would be nice.

Just my 2 cents

This kinda depends on your monitor settings too as I've seen the site look rather differently on different monitors (often not adjusted well). We were generally speaking working on more color schemes but its not getting anywhere due to current lack of time. Thanks for the input anyhow. Btw, are there any colors you would suggest/like?
Btw, are you using an lcd monitor or crt? It does seem that site looks somewhat better on crt, maybe due to color/brightness difference...

Everything looks better on a CRT. But I am concerned about the report of blue, so I think your monitor may be adjusted improperly.

I personally like the "Halloween" theme over at ti-news. Those colors work well for me. ticalcs are starting to annoy me.

Well, I am using a really really old ibm monitor, so that might be the problem. I think some whites and shades of light blue with black text would be good. Kinda like the FI theme on php boards.

If we do that we'll look like ti-news or ticalc. While its not a bad thing, we kinda tend to be different. :) Maybe eventually we'll come up with a color theme changer but that's eventually...

I like this color scheme, it is original and a good balance between dull, boring, grayish coloration and a frighteningly gaudy color scheme. It kinda gives CG its own personality :)

I like this color scheme. It has a depressing type of feeling to it, and that's awesome!

Thanks for your comments guys. This design took us quite a while to produce and unlike other websites we haven't had any redesigns (only optimizations!) since we rolled out online and since nearly everyone likes it, which means its okay by me. Btw, one of the reasons we used dark colors is to reduce strain on the eyes which is often a problem with websites that use light colors. Here text is much easier to read (in my opinion) and those os us who tend to come to the site at night time or from darker rooms sure appreciate the reduced brightness of this site. Oh boy, I almost wrote an essay about our site's colors. Hehe
