I accidentally stuck two of the same programs in your archives again. Sry about that. I changed the name Gunned Down to Kamakazi, for reasons on gameplay. If you could take out Gunned Down v1.0 that'd be awesome!

No problem. Also I would like to point out that you need to have .83? files to put the file in the (83x) folder. Your files belong in the 83+/SE.

Don't. Z has told me and others countless times that CG has tons of space and welcomes programmers of all ages and skills.

Ya, but the more games there are, the harder it is to find things in the overcrowded TI-83+ Section!

Search u can use for specifics, and browsing for goodies never hurt anyone.

Our search works much better than ticalc's btw. But yeah, add yer files ppl. We're an archive site afterall, so we've gotta receive submissions and get newer files. We may eventually need to add sub-categories to indicate genre or each files to faciliate searches and all. Though, I'd only use it for seach and to to organize files as its often hard to put some files into a specific genre and would make it even harder for people to find. As usual, comments and suggestions are always welcome.

You know Z, if you implemented categorization, you could just list them with subheadings, kind of like the Asm, basic, and flash ones right now (those don't mean crap to n00bs and ppl...)

I think the Admin should update the list on the side, in the other frame. Put some new things up, instead of the old ones. And would it really be that hard to put in on the side, top games of the month?

Categories may be implemented sometime around end of spring or summer when our crew has more spare time as it would require quite a lot of changes.

Prog of the month may be added eventually as we have been considering that. But again, right now most of us are pretty busy so it'll have to wait for some time.

As I've told you on IRC, if you want to figure out how to organize and implement it, feel free to do so and email it to editors@calcgames.org... Though that might be better for staff@calcgames.org. At any rate, if you really want it done, do it yourself and send it to us. You'll get full credit....

It's a script that just adds to a counter in a text file.
And I'm much too busy until at least the middle of may to work on much of anything. So any major changes will have to wait.

Why not just hire him Andy? Apart from the reason that you seem to dislike him...

I have nothing against it. I just don't feel we need anyone else right now. If you guys want to, go ahead.

Again, I just don't think we need any more people officially staff right now. I'm open to sugestions on stuff to do, just fire off an email. Actually, I should say more than just sugestions -- for something such as the contest he wants, he should give some structural ideas.

Just my $0.02...

If you want my opinion, which is probably insignificant, I say let him do some content managing or archive sorting or something that doesn't have to do with programming that the rest of you admins are either too busy or too lazy to do. That is, if he really wants thee job.

Then again, I don't pay the bills around here...

*Actually, technically, the ads I put on my site do help, but that was just an expression.

If we need to hire someone, we will either announce it and hold interviews, or we if we have someone in mind, we will contact that person directly. We ask that you don't constantly make oblique references to you wanting to be hired. Personally, I don't see a need for a new administrator at this time or in the foreseeable future. As Andy has said, if you demonstrate skill in writing, he could hire you as a Content Manager in the future. But that's his call.

If you note the rather slow pace of updates or related at this time, it's because most of the staff is rather with the end of the school year coming up. After May, you should see a general upsurge in activity from us.

Well, anyone can help out with content and such but does not have to be on the staff. We've recently hired a good deal of people and we're not looking for anyone right now. Anyone can still just submit their wanted content piece to and of the admins of SCM's and have it posted, ofcourse proper credit will be given. However, we are open to ideas and a prospective person to join CM's can start controbuting something via email first and then may have ability to join the staff.
And on a sidenote, we don't have anyone who's "playing the bills", it's more of a thing that's right for the website and our cummunity and not likely a personal thing. Please understand that, at least we try to keep it in such a way.

Holy Cow! I never knew CG had such a large 83+SE archive! I never looked anywhere but the 86 for a long time. Such a huge difference...

He probably misspelled and meant "balls" :). In which case I wouldn't be the one doing the work anyway. Though here at CG we don't really go out for brawls figuring out who's got more power and all that. Whoever can get something accomplished would accomplsh that. Kinda like things being done in an open-source project but w/t actually having an open-source project. Well, you get my point.

greenoragne:

I think the majority of the people in the world have TI-83+ calcs. Atleast, almost everybody in my school who has a TI eitehr has 83 or 83+. A few have 89's and so far I haven't met anyone with an 86.

Ya, Im not new on the fact that it became unpopular. It's funny, because ive met people with 82, 83, 83+, 84+, 85, 86, 89, and 89-ti, but no one with a v200 or 92+, or a 73. Wierd!

In my school it was mostly 83/83+/SE. I knew only one guy who has an 86 and may a couple has 89. I remember some girl had an 82 and the rest of the class were asking what that ghetto calc was :). Back when I was in HS there weren't any 84's and I've never seen anyone with a 73 or 92 series. A lot of people were not sure what kind of calc I had, they thought it was 83 as it looks similar but when they looked at the screen they were "wtf is this thing?" or "can i get same menus/pretty print/math funcs on my 83x?...err of course NOT!" Oh well. Sometimes people are so igonarant that its actually funny to see them wonder what planet my calc came from.

That's what happened to me when I busted out my 89. Everyone's like: "Can you give me kirby?" or "How do I do 3-D graphing on my calc?". And, of course, my responses were along the lines of "no" and "get a new calc". They think I'm just ripping them off, but they're just n00bs.

they should make it so you can transfer basic programs to every calc...like in the middle of transfer, change the format so it fits the other calc. That would be cool. I want kirby badly though. :(

Nope, 86 basic differs from 83x basic which differs from 68k basic. 83x is also the only basic that uses tokens instead of plain letters.

If you count the 73 in the 8x category, that's correct. Otherwise it's wrong. :)
