First off, I found that Omnimaga might be closing, due to Kevin's displeasure at flamers. WTF, Kevin? It's not that bad. I have received my fair share of hate mail about my programming, but it don't stop me any. Stupid flamers saying petty things is no reason to threaten removing yourself, and all traces of you, from the TI community.
Second, I was made aware of a "fued" between Andy, Kevin, and Kerm Martian. Once again, WTF? This is the type of thing that pisses me off. I might not be the best programmer in the community, or the most respected, or the most infamous. But I consider myself to be an old-timer in the community, given that I am nearly 20 and have seven years of TI programming, plus two years before that of Casio programming, under my belt. Not to mention the fact that I've been involved, to one degree or another, in the community since at the most recently 1998. Most people come and go; I'm here to stay for quite some time (my goal is to be the first 30 year old user of cg :D). So as such, I am getting sick and tired of the little petty differences making a big deal (the war started between myself and XX, but that was just for S's and G's). Kevin, Andy, Kerm, the following is directed at you:
All three of you are highly respected members of the TI community. I hold the utmost respect for each of you, as both people and fellow community members. So you need to set aside your differences, and think more about the community than about yourselves and your squabbles with others.
Third, the idea of a petition to keep Omnimaga online and Kevin in the community is excellent. However, the Anti-Andy bashing petition is not. There are three reasons I disagree with this petition: one, Andy is technically my boss; two, a petition is not the way to do this type of thing; and three, these types of things are to be discussed in private, involving only those concerned to the matter directly.
That's about all I have to say for now. Speak your piece regarding my topics here. And this time, all off topic or annoying posts WILL be deleted. |

You see, as I understand it Andy "bashed" Kerm, and then Kevin "spammed" (or so I heard) here, so Andy yelled at Kevin and also Flamed him at Omnimaga... thus resulting in what helped to almost take Omnimaga down, but it's back so all is good (I hope)

Andy Administrator Posted: 12 Jul 2005 15:31 GMT Total Posts: 939 | You know what, I'm fine if they don't want me to be as active on forums -- I can still do my job. What I don't, however, understand is how they manage to peg my actions IN SOMETHING NOT RELATED TO CALCGAMES WHATSOEVER (read: #tcpa and a gues post on omnimaga forums I hardly remember) to be the stance of the entire staff. wtf?
anyway, i do realize i'm a bit harsh sometimes -- i'm trying to not be so much so, but it's hard when there are hypocritical people out there.
As for Kerm, yes I severely overreacted -- but the least he could have done was upload it to the site. I can't feature a program that isn't going to be uploaded to our archives!
as for kevin, I lost all respect for him when he flooded/spammed the forums. Yes, I'm *somewhat* at fault for creating the incident, but he himself flooded the forums. After seeing how hypocritical he is, I cannot accept his actions. I was going to say something else here, but the pizza just got here so I must be going... Not to mention I forgot what it was |

JcCorp Probe Posted: 12 Jul 2005 17:23 GMT Total Posts: Edit | DSP, that would have to be the smartest, fairest thing you've ever said. I salute you, and also scratch my head at the thought of you being "fair."
@Andy: Yes, you can do your job without being active on the forum. But that would not allow you to gather opinions and discuss things with the general public. It really isn't a good idea. I'm sure you won't do that though, and I hope I didn't insult you or anything accidentally.
I'd also like to add that there are many, many, many discussion topics on all of these issues, and that we really should either have one or none. |
Andy Administrator Posted: 12 Jul 2005 17:33 GMT Total Posts: 939 | XX: Well I must have posted it before going to dinner but hit the back button as the post page was up when i got back. If you would have looked at the times, you would have seen over an hour difference.
Jc: I don't intend on doing that, I'm just saying it COULD be done if this pisses me off too much. |

Posted: 12 Jul 2005 22:26 GMT Total Posts: 2486 | Well folks, Kevin doesn't want to come back to CG anymore which is of course his choice but he wanted to pull all of his files too. I talked to him but he's still leaving the CG however we won't be pulling his files. I'm not sure why exactly he wanted to pull the files anyway as many people who tried his games had a good time and put up good comments. As with flames/spamming (I did however miss the whole incident as I'm pretty busy these days), we should try to contain our feelings and act politely and with regards to others. I know we all have our bad times and all that but we should still write with respect to each other. If we don't our community will lose it friendliness and it won't be fun anymore so please think twice before you post something.

greenorange Goliath Posted: 13 Jul 2005 05:36 GMT Total Posts: 199 | Ya, I think pulling his files is too much. I mean, as of right now, Reuben Quest is #2 on the high-rating list. There is always a chance that he will come back, anyway. Im sure this might blow over sooner or later.
As for the spamming the forum, I never saw it, but there is a difference between flames and spam: Flames leave a hurtful impression and impact the reader and whoever it was directed to. Spam, at the most, insults the staff at the forum, but both flames and spam can be deleted. However, no matter if flames get deleted or not, they leave the same impact.
I'm not saying whether one is right or wrong, but Kevin did do something idiotic when he spammed these forums. However, spam appears more of a prank than a means of putting someone down :-/ |
