Hey peeps, anyone played with this baby? There are some other nicies to check out as of now. This includes some rather impressive games like Stalker, Painkiller and FarCry. I've got a chance to get a glimpse of those and my, all I can say is that some awesome stuff is really close!

Btw, has anyone had problems with Doom3 and the latest DX9 (or perhaps lastest nvidia detonator?). The alpha used to work nicely on m comp but recently when I went to try it our again, all that works is sound but no video. I'm thinking its one of the drivers I mentioned above since nearly nothing else changed on my rig. Plz lemme know if you have any suggestions.

Hate to sound ignorant-but um, since you kinda seem like a Doom 3 alpha buff, what exactly is it? :img14:

This is some pretty old stuff, Z. I know you've made a page on this site for Doom3 already, as have I made a web page dedicated to Doom3 goodness. I had a lot of fun messing with the Config and playing around, looking at the engine in all it's glory. I was awestruck by it's beauty of atmosphere, shadows, and detailed models.
Doom3 Alpha is the leaked Alpha version of a single-player based FPS game to come out in the near future. It's been in development by the well known genious programmer John Carmack.

EDIT: Well Z, the game was made for DX9 so that shouldn't be the problem. However, I only played it with DX8 and 9.0a User Runtime versions. I have not tried playing Doom3 Alpha with the most current DirectX, but I could put it back on my PC and give it a go to see if this truely affects it. Also remember, nvidia's Radeon 9700 pro was closely used in developing the Alpha. It was the most superiorly powerful card at the time, with the most speed and abilities. As a matter of fact, I know and remember the Config has some special options for this chipset.

This isn't a DX problem but rather an nvidia detonator problem. It seems that the latest set of detonator drivers doesn't work with doom3 alpha for whatever reason. downgrading to an older version solves the problem.
