Has anyone else heard about the accusations that Linus Trabald (Pardon my spelling) didn't write Linix? I think it's a bunch of BS, personally.
I also find is amusing that the first 2 examples of 'why unix is better' both origionate from seattle... (Costco and Safeco Field).

Strange how things can look differentally when you're really tired. (Studying, getting ready for camp, general lack of sleep).
Just because Mac OS X is build around unix doesn't make it better. And I say that as a recent convert to mac (As soon as I get a new HD, that is...)

Total Posts: 80 | For what it's worth, OS X is NOT based on UNIX. And certainly not based off anything SCO did. OS X is based off of BSD, which is something completely different and very free. AT&T, one of the previous owners of UNIX at one point sued the University of California and BSDi. The suit ended up dragging out for a long time and was settled out of court. It was an embarrassment to AT&T, too. Among the decisions from that, BSD cannot call itself UNIX. Also, BSD is not based off UNIX, although it could be described as UNIX-like.
Oh, and the Safeco Field example is yet another reason to root against the Mariners and for the Yankees. :) |
