Well anyways I would like your opinions.
Thanks |

These programs while used by many are commonly used to pirate copyrighted material which is not something we allow to be discussed on our forum. If you want, you may create an IMpoll (or PM but no public forum posts) and let people vote their preference but please don't discuss anything p2p haring related on our public forum.
Thanks.

KaZaa has a crapload of spyware/adware with it. Limewire doesn't. That should be enough to persuade anyone. |

It's not your fault if you didn't know, feel free to collect opinions only but if you do that make sure to be able to contain the topic so it doesn't go out of bounds. Both progs are ok, I would however consider KLite since it doesnt contain adware/spyware. Though, you can pickup lots of viruses and such from either network. Make sure to virus scan all downloaded content.

Andy Administrator Posted: 6 Aug 2005 07:20 GMT Total Posts: 939 | Ehh, of course you then get into violating EULAs... I'm pretty sure KaZaa has it in there that only it can use its network or something... Limewire uses gnutella I believe...
Besides, Java == <3 :P
Of course, from a technical viewpoint BitTorrent kicks buttox. I've never gotten anywhere near 1MB/s on anything but BitTorrent. |
greenorange Goliath Posted: 6 Aug 2005 07:20 GMT Total Posts: 199 | I use LimeWire. Never tried Kazaa but Limewire works great for me. Just do not try it for "cracks", and NEVER download a "patch" on any file-sharing program... thats just asking to be infected...
Also I like how Limewire has a neat searching tool, so I can use it for legit things and still get good results. For some reason, nowadays filesharing = music pirating, but I disagree. I find it easier to use for getting documents than Google sometimes :P |

@greenorange = when you search for stuff on Limewire or KLite how many legit things do you see there? I doubt you'll see any. Maybe a game demo or a movie trailer on a rare occasion but that's it. I like you used KLite to get some docs too but that's not what 99.9% of folks use it for.

Posted: 6 Aug 2005 09:55 GMT Total Posts: 2007 | I use limewire, but only because I have been for a while. My friends used Kazaa and their computers were basically screwed after a few months with viruses. I've tried bittorrent clients also, but only one has ever worked and it was slow for some reason. Now, though, I think I might try it again since I have faster internet. |
korkow Ultralisk Posted: 6 Aug 2005 09:59 GMT Total Posts: 465 | I don't agree with you guys that say LimeWire is safe. My bros computer is SCREWED UP. And it wasn't bad at all before he got LW. He has viruses that, like, regenerate and stuff... BAD. But of course, I now have my own, %100 virus free compy! So im happy |
alex10819 Wraith Posted: 6 Aug 2005 10:03 GMT Total Posts: 507 | well, the viruses didnt necessarily come from Limewire... when we say its safe, we mean the base software, not the content exchanged... which may or may not be safe. |

What I like about BT is the fact that there is alot of legit stuff that you can use it for, which makes it more useful for me. I never really used Kazaa/Limewire myself, but I like Bit Comet for bittorrenting. |

Andy Administrator Posted: 6 Aug 2005 14:50 GMT Total Posts: 939 | BitTorrent is "slow" until you have uploaded (after downloading at a snail's pace) enough to make the other peers "like" you more. Of course, if there aren't many peers to begin with, of course it's going to go slow. |
