Posted: 3 Jul 2006 13:51 GMT Total Posts: 96 | If you need to run DOS programs and commands, I believe that Windows XP still has a command prompt. Just go into Start>All Programs>Accessories>Command Prompt. It has all the functions of DOS, I believe.

Posted: 4 Jul 2006 13:18 GMT Total Posts: 2486 | What exactly are you trying to do? Ther's no more DOS in XP and command prompt is basically emulated. You can use recovery console to recover some stuff or get a copy of dos on the web but make sure that version supports ntfs (if your file system is fat32 any version will do). If you can clarify exactly what you're trying to do, we'll try to help you out. :)

by saying windows no longer has DOS is like saying the new version of ti84 will have no basic programing systems. its illogical.

MS-DOS stands for MicroSoft Disk Operating System, and was the precursor to windows, not necessarily the foundation for it. In the old days, you had to load windows from DOS, but not any more, thank you very much. |
