Greets:
I was hoping that someone could help me with a problem. I have alot of programs for my TI 83+ and they help me.. (sometimes) with math. I've posted many times on ticalc.org and basically I am a senior student who is taking senior calculus. I need programs that can show me the algebra involved with solving them. Example:

I found many programs that will help me solve logs.. but I get only a final answer.. I need the algebra to go along with it so I can really LEARN from it. Our class has a shortage of text books and no extra time (because of school funding cuts) so the only way I'm goign to pass this course with a decent mark is to learn myself.. and something that will make this a lot eaiser for me are programs that show me the algebra! I've found maybe one program that shows the algebra that is useful to me but I need some others. Below is a list of programs that I am willing to pay someone to code if they work properly and show all work/algebra needed.

1) Log Equations solver
2) Limits (demoniator of zero, root signs and all that jazz)
3) Derivitives

If someone could create a program for the TI 83+ that can solve those problems AND show the work (algebra) I would just be so happy! Anyone that can help me can email me at:

I already created that program, too bad it was after the link port on my calc died, I have never released it, it should take me 2 days to remake and finish so that it will do complex algebra.
I'll post it on calcgames.org when done.

Allright, I had it almost done today, but when I was playing with my calc today I discovered a differant way of doing it, MUCH BETTER!!!!!
The actual code is done, but now I'm working on the interface.
It should be done tommorrow

It does algebra, all kinds except systems.
It has an incredibly high calculation speed.

You will see it here, it will be called KingSoft Advanced Mathematics software 1.0

Ubfortunatley one of my goats had twins yesterday, so I've been a little sidetracked. I'll try to find the time to finish it today.

Ok man!
Make sure it shows all the algebra so that I can learn from the steps and thankyou so much for the time/program! what does it calculate again? logs? limits? anything like that? congrats on the baby goat also, do you live in a farm? I live next to a farm and they have births a lot hehe.. but congrats and thanks SO MUCH for your time in doing this!

Cheers!

Okay This is my status report,
So far the program can:
Boot Up...
Log a problem...
And do some of the busy work nessecary to start calculation.

The program is VERY complex for me so that it is easy to use for you.
You just type in the problem and, when it is finished, it will spit ot the answer with all the work to make your teacher happy. It is large, about 2,587 bytes right now, I assume it will double by the time it is done, and it runs at an okay speed, (it would run fast on a S.E.)

I have developed new technology to help with this program, KingSoft Key Logger, capable of storing 9801 key strokes!!! Though the key logger in the program only stores 900 strokes (although I doubt you would use them all!!).

ok thats great almost there man :)

think ya could whip up something for limits? I just have a test on tuesday and I still dont understand limits.. but if you could get that going then your a WIZARD dude! absolute WIZARD! THanks so much for your time! We haven't started derivitives yet but were doing that next week so there is time for that one but limits is the hot topic of this week! I can throw ya some cash for your troubles dude!

Thanks again for your time.

What textbook do you guus use in shool? Just curisous coz I know textbooks usually suck and its hard to understand from them. I forget which book I used in my HS but they were pretty good. I'd usre love to see a nice prog for 83 that shows all the steps tho. That'd be cool.

oic, maybe you guys have different textbooks in canada. i never liked my textbook back in russia either but they were better in usa. well, yeah gl to Alex and hopefully he'll finish his math program to everyone's good.

Edit: oh btw Gavin, do you actually run you design company? just curious to know how you're doing. cheers!

I'll look up limits today on the web, if I can find out what they are maybe I can whip up a program by tonight. Also no money is nescessary, I'm doing this for the greater good, TO STOP BITCHY MATH TEACHERS!! I hate showing my work also. Check back tonight, If it is done I'll have a download link in this forum.

Good luck on the test

Do you need the limits program to show work. I currently am makeing it so it does, but if you don't need it to, I could get it done quicker

Well unfortunetley I was kicked off my computer all night, so I couldn't finish the limits program. I wish you luck. I think you should do well, I learned how to do limits in 5 minutes, without even knowing what the were before today.

Here is the site I found

http://www.kent.k12.wa.us/staff/dwright/calculus/book/1.2/

They explain it very simply

Hey there:
well luckly i did well on the limits test, but they are getting really hard and that program would be really swell to have. If you could make that program to show all the work (algebra) needed to solve limits that would just be awesome. Even if it takes a little bit, because limits are important in calculus and I have alot of programs that evaulate them but show no work.. but your doing great thanks so much KingSoft! Also, do you think you could write a program that evaulates Derivitaves? Were moving into that and derivitaves are KEY in calculus! Ok man thanks for all the great work, hope to hear from you soon I hope :)

Okay, I can try to learn Derivitives (no guarentees tough) currently I'm in algebra moving on to geometery. My mom cant decide wether she should be happy I'm spending so much time on math, or mad becuase I'm doing so much programming. Its crazy.

I'm at school ALL DAY (till 9:30 tonight!) so I wont get a chance to move forward today.

hey kingsoft sorry for getting you sidetracked.. I am really after a LIMITS program that can evaluate any limit and show all of its work.. how is that going? I hope its going well because I'm in great need of that! Is there anything I can do for you?

www.electrical-storm.com/gavin if your looking for anything?

think positively anyway, even if Alex gets a little caugh up and doesn't get finished really soon his prog will be very useful to others. math progams are good ESPECIALLY when they show the work, so people actually learn from them not just use for cheating and stuff.
gl on that Alex!

Yeah i have no work ethic to do anything any more but you can try geohelp, one of my programs. It gives you some of the formulas instead of the answer sometimes. Also get mathhelp when they post it.

I wish I could help you write a program to show the process of finding a derivative but I find it more easy to do it in my head or have the 89 do it for me.

Lol, I just let my calc do them :). You Gavin could probably email KingSoft and ask him how he's doing. Unfortunately not many of us remember how to program 83x so we couldn't be of much help. I'd btw suggest you have a look on Ebay, maybe you could get a nice deal on a TI-89. My friend got one off of Ebay last year for like $50 (and it was new and factory sealed!). TI-89 can graphically do derivatives, though, even 89 doesn't show work if that's all you need.

it's not just grahpically - there's a derivative function that does stuff even too advanced for me. it'll do implicit differentiation and will even graph a first derivative (for some reason when i tried to graph the 2nd derivative (using 2 d(d('s as opposed to writing the actual expression) it didn't work right... maybe i did something wrong).

but basically, the 89 will do anything. There have been 2 or 3 types of integration problems that it will not perform, but usually it works great.

:) yeah, 89 is great. TI calc king perhaps. it's however a little pricey for some. though, those who intend to get 83+ SE should definitely consider 89 instead coz its just $10 more but will provide many more features.

I wanted a 89 or 92+, but my parents just had to talk to my math teacher, who reccomonded the 83+ because the school used them and I could learn to use them. (Well, it turns out I teach the teachers how to use it). But I want to get one of those. Which one would you calculator gods reccomond, the 89, 92+ or voyager?

I would go with the 89 over the 83plus any day. In US dollars the 89 is about 150. It's worth every penny, trust me. I've had mine for 5yrs and have dropped it onto tile (accidentaly) 30+ times and it still works just fine. For information on the 89 go to this url. BTW I'm not 'late'. Since I know about nothing for programming on the 83plus I had no use in here :-D

http://education.ti.com/us/product/tech/89/features/89bid.html

allynfolksjr: It depends on what you are going to use the calculator for. If you still need to take standardized tests (ACT, SAT, AP etc) the get the 89. If you are past that I would recomend getting the V200 because of the larger screen, more memory, and QWERTY keyboard. On TI's website they say the V200 is an update of the 92+. Don't worry about compatability because within a month (at most) I would have to say the issue will be obsolete. Here is the V200 info.

http://education.ti.com/us/product/tech/89/features/voyagebid.html

BTW there is 960KB of Archive memory! Thats 983040 bytes. I have 17 games, Edit 3D with 24 models and 11 textures, 20 Space Dementia ships, various enhancements, two books of the Bible and a whole lot more. Total 142 files, average file size is 6505.56 Bytes. Oh, add NoteFolio and StudyCards to the list.

960kb archive? What AMS are you running? 2.05 only gives you about 720k, and 2.08 655k or so... Unless you're including RAM along with that?

From my limited research into the voyage 200, most of the space is for apps only. so, i think 1.7mb is app space.

yeah, TI made a rather idiotic thing and chopped more than half of v200's memory off for apps...which very few of us use and need soe much memory for. i hope this is only a software limit which will go off soon. either way, v200 has a lot more memory than any other calc, even 83+ SE (if you look at combined mem). also, 89 has more ram. having so much archive and such tiny ram on 83+ SE makes you wondering why. anyway, if you can learn you calc yourself, go with 89. this way kids in you math class will have to do everyhitng by hand and you'll have your tursty 89 do the work for you (make sure you do learn how to do things yourself too, though). hehe.

For the most part your right Z. Actually all the 68k calcs have 256KB of RAM. I'm really supprised that there is 10KB less that is free on the V200. Its really annoying. Also if you can actually fill up all the APP portion of the Flash you won't have enough RAM to do jack. Its really stupid. Only 960KB of the FLASH memory is user accessable.
