Is it worth it?

I'd only be paying $150. I'm a freshman in highschool.

I like the games and programs. I want to learn how to program things for it myself.

Freshman? Yes, it's worth getting one. But not at your point in school.

Yes, its definitely worth it but here are some stuff you should consider before you buy it.
As you probably know, V200 has a QWERTY keyboard and thus is not allowed on any standardized tests such as SAT's and its not allowed in some high schools and colleges too, but that somewhat depends on your teachers. If that's important for you, then you may want to consider a TI-89 instead.
Its a rather expensive calc, so some kids in your school may want to steal it from you.
In general, for $150 V200 is a really good buy. Considering all of its awesome features and large memory its probably the best calc overall. Its good for many things, not just games and programs and a large screen makes your life a lot easier when it comes to math or graphing.
What I described above is its only drawback, so if that's not a problem for you, get it!

EDIT: In reaply to BullFrog's comment, I say it doesn't matter what calc you get as long its what you like and helpful to you. Although, getting a non school standard calc will require you to learn about it yourself as well as be able to follow teacher instructions aimed at a different calc model. Either of TI's calcs will last you a long time, probably waay thru college and considering money you spend on it, you should choose something worthy. I myself is good at electronis and like playing with various gadgets, so learning calcs wasn't a problem for me and I got a calc I liked w/t bothering with anything. I even showed my teacher how to do many things on calcs. So decide for yourself what's best for you. We're always here to help you out with any problems or questions you may face.

Well, program and game wise, it is a good deal-if you use it correctly. If you just download 200 games onto it like my frined did-then it's a waste of money. Unless you really use it for math, get a Ti83+SE.

Well, when I was a freshman in high school myself, I was in Algebra II and decided to get an 89. Not a very good idea. I thought it was so cool how I could have my 89 do everything. Because of that, I didn't learn much. I finally developed the habit of only using the 89 to help with my work, not doing it for me. So if you know how to do the stuff by hand, then go for it. Get the V200. (I want one as well.) But if you're going to get it just because it can do pretty much anything math related, don't get it.

I don't see any point of getting a 83+SE coz its like $130. For just another $20 he can get a much better calc in all aspets. As I said, 83+ would be good for people who aren't that great with electronics and may depend on their teacher's calc instructions. However, I may agree that 83+ calc would be a better choice for someone who haven't been in calc world as its much more complicated to get used to at first.
And I agree with BullFrogs last comment, get it if you find it useful for stuff you may be planning on doing/learning, otherwise you may be better off getting a cheaper calc like 83+ or if you really feel like spending some cash, a 83+SE.

Personally, I think the V200's are pretty cool. I'm asking for one for Christmas this year, and it'll probably make everyone that sees me with it very jealous. :eek_a:

Yes, I'm sure you're not the only one who thinks so.
I just don't get why some people want to ruin others hard work. It is because they can't do something like others can or what.
Oh yes calcfreak, email me if you wish to apply for forum mod.

Z: I was going to do that if he continued, if that is a little too lenient, I'll remember that for next time.

I got very angry at what he did and didn't find any good reasons for giving him a second chance. Besides, after what he has done it didn't look like he'd come back anyway.
This topic is getting OT, so lets just close this up. What's done is done.
