i am considering trading my 128mb mp3 player(i paid around a $100 for it) for a ti-85...does anyone here think that this is worth it

probably, though not too many people have ti-85 by now and those that do are likely to have them as a collectible item. you may want to try searching ebay and contact folks that offer their 85's for sale, who knows maybe they'll agree to trade with you.

I'd say no, b/c the 85 is very old.

If you're going to heading into Calculus, go for the 86. The 83 Plus really can't do much in that area. But if you're just looking for one to play with or something, then anything will work really.
