I just noticed that the first voxels engine has been created for ti TI-89 platform. It looks very nice. Kudos to Kai Kostack!

Yes, and it's friggin' AWESOME! I have the perfect idea for a game with that engine, that anyonme who wants to make a game with that engine could do. Ever heard of T'MEK, a first-person hovertank shooting game? It was a fore-runner of all these death, match games like Timesplitters or Unreal Tournament, except with tanks instead of people. Here's a screenie of the orignal on Sega Genesis 32x:T'mek pic

Just get an old Win 95 CD and copy the Hover directory to your hard drive.

Ray,
Duh, I just don't know where my dad keeps it. Plus I haven't thought about asking him for it since I changed platforms.

Once I get LinkView done, if I ever get it done. E-mail moitib, I think that his engine is worthy or a test of that magnitude since FAT doesn't support verticle movement. I'd love to see this game come to life on the 68k platform.

Edit: If anyone wants to do this, e-mail me screen shots of the game, and/or the game itself and I'll rip and convert the HUD in a decent 4 level color sceme.

This voxel thing looks cool. Though, its too slow on the calc that makes be feel uncertain that the engine will be able to support a game. This was still fun to play with and I definitely wanna see what it'll turn into over time.

From the readme:

" A game demo will be published soon after this release,
prepare to play on 8 to 12 FPS!"
That's a good thing. I would love to see what the author had in mind. Maybe even the source released so that others may take advantage and make their own awesome games. I haven't looked into it so maybe the source is already out there.

"Q: Will this be the last update of your techdemo?
A: I think yes, because it's finished now."
I'm somewhat disappointed it won't be optimized anymore, but maybe it just can't be, because the TI-89 isn't really all that powerful... But as stated, I hope it's open source so that possibly others can take advantage of it to toy with the engine.

I've never been a real big fan of asian art, alot of the artists are definently talented, but the asian stuff is cool-just not as realistic as some american stuff. But nowendays, americans are copying asians!

if i want realism, i shoot a movie or picture. you shouldn't make such large generalizationis...

on topic: the voxel engine looked quite impressive as a it-can-be-done kind of thing, i think one screenshot showed a fly-over.

The one screen shot is the only way I've seen voxels done, at least in java script. If someone can make a game out of this, I'm sure it'd (is that 'legal') be pretty cool.

it should be legal if its open source or you contact the author and get the source and obey the license.

Spiral, learn how I post. Allyn answered what i wanted to know. I almost always put a parenthetical 'thing' right after the content I'm refering to. If I was talking about making a game, It would have been placed closer to the word 'game'.

Edit: spelling

Well, I still have the other avatar but I thought I'd just use something else for a change. :)

(Lol, I've adden another avatar size for experimental purposes...oh just FYI: if you've notices there's a scribble on the backgorund at the top left corner, it says "very evil".)

it's cool, i can see the pixels that you need to fix, but if i can see it shoudl be relatively easy to fix (looks like something that even paint could do)

edit: just remembered ur on mac

hehe, the resolution was a bit too lame for my avatar so i've decided to pump it up a bit. plz lemme know if that causes any lag so i can take care of that if necessary. i'll keep things this way for now tho. oh, there won't be a 160x100 horizontal avatar size since its a bit too wide for the forum tables and the current vertical 160x100 avatar is probably as high as it'll go, but i'm still thinking about decreasing its size a bit. oh hey S, it a good time to put a more full pic of a nice asian babe (sorry, no porno pics though)!

I wish I weren't so busy. I would have hit my projection of getting LinkView completed but I still need to install TIGCC. Then I have the 'manual labor' of putting up my site (I now know how you feel Z :img13:). I'm also organizing my own birthday party for this week end. Then toss on the time I'm in school and the fatigue and I can get pretty beat. I'm glad I don't have a job, except that I don't make any money. If all this weren't the case, I'd start up the hover port :img13: and employ those willing.

S, caught yourself there did ya? I have 4 or so programs for editing gfx. One of which is designed for avatars/icons. This minor "problem" seems like a perfect candidate to test out that software.

Not to be rude, but what the hell is an avatar program? I mean seriously - that's just rediculous. Just use a normal graphics editing program which is what they all are. And if you really wanted, a single frame doesn't take long to finish at all.
As for Zs improved icon, I highly appreciate the added visuals of it being expanded. It's much more interesting and captivating. I don't think you need to change it. It took no time at all for it to load up for me.
