Hi guys...
maybe this is a newbee question... but I am one :)

I switched from my Casio CFX to a Voyage recently and was quite pleased with my new "toy"... exept that it eats batteries like crazy!
Now, I still have warranty on it and wanted to check if that behavior is "normal".
The first set of battiers (came with the calc, which I bought used) and didn't hold for more than 2 weeks.
I replaced them with new (though cheap non-brand) batteries that quit working after 2 Flash Backups and maybe 6 weeks.
So I tried my rechargable batteries that I used in my Casio CFX (and which ran just fine with them). The Voyage works okay so far exept that the battery status won't work very good. In fact two days ago this thing wouldn't even turn on anymore after it hadn't even displayed the battery sign.
I recharged the batteries and put them in this morning, so they are "fresh" as they can be.
The moment I just plugged my USB cable on my Voyage to load some Flash Programs the battery sign went on. Flashing won't work of course due to "too low battery"...
I know that USB and stuff is hard on the battery but this is sort of weird because the battery thing went on right away...

I am not sure if it is the calculator or just the crappy batteries I use. Maybe my rechargable ones aren't any good anymore either.

So what are you experiences with batteries for you V200? Anybody using rechargable batteries and hasn't problems?
Any comments appreciated :)

rechargable batteries won't ever work well with the low battery warnings... they go down in voltage very quickly and never really give much warning to low energy storage.

the calculator has no way to actually check how much energy is left in the battery, so it has to check the voltage, and recharable batteries have a high voltage until they are near empty, then they go straight down to nearly zero.

i use duracell and they work fine for a somewhat long period of time...

after you get bored with your v200 you won't use it as much and the batteries won't quit so quickly.

Yah, it really boils down to how much you use your calc, like on my 83+ it needed new batteries every month, but the last time I had to change them was about 6 months ago, because I use it alot less (actually, it died).

Invest in some NiMH batteries. Thugh they only last about 2 weeks when playing games everyday, They are able to be recharged readily and have no memory. I use them in my 89, V200, and digital camera. I suggest getting 8 or 12 so you always have an extra set.

... when I said "my new toy" I didn't mean I mess around with it all day because of excitment.... LOL ;)

I will get a set of NiMH-batteries and give them a try. Do they work reliable for USB-linking?

NiMH work for me well...I use them everywhere from my mp3-cd, camera to my cordless mouse. They save you a lot of money but like D said, battery power inidcators at times don't work with rechargable batteries due to the fact they are 1.2 volts instead of 1.5 and their power level drops to nearly zero when they're depleted rather than decrease gradually (as see in normal alkaline batteries).

If the V200 uses AA's, then try getting them at costco, 48AA batterys for ten bucks. Thats what I do.

he's probably looking for rechargables. besides, rechargables are more environmet friendly since you can recharge them instead of producing waste. :) blah blah please recycle! (no, i'm actually serious)
