Down the road I don't see the AMS (in the 68k calcs) changing much, maybe a uprated processor (30Mhz max, I should think), and possibly a higher resolution screen, and probably (as I see it) starting a new series, if TI intends to significantly improve their product line at all.
But look it like, calculators are 5% of TI. And they are doing outstanding as they are right now, easily beating the closest rival, HP. So I don't really see any major products in the near future. |

These things are true. And yet, there seems to be some kind of compulsion for them to release a "new" calculator at least every two years or so, hense the 89Ti and 84+(SE). I think there's some sort of mindset that if they stop doing new models, they'll look like they're falling behind in the industry even though they are essentially a monopoly. This leads to the interesting dilemma: The only calculator left that they could possibly do a marginal hardware upgrade to without looking stupid is the 86, but the 85/86 family was solidly abandoned years ago; it was a miracle that they even bothered to support it with the latest TI Connect version. |

Total Posts: 958 | Well in a 4-5+ years I'm sure they could update the 83+/89 line again. The only minor problem would be finding new numbers. Other than that they can just pack in a few upgrades. |

A faster proc and more memory wouldn't hurt either and all of this is quite possible with current andvanced technology and prices always going down when new things come out (take recent crop of Palm pilots and PPCs for instance, they show a decent illustration of high-tech at low cost).

AMEN. Color would definately be cool, not very many uses other than the fact that it looks better, but still, a switch from lcd to led would be nice. |

Total Posts: 310 | Color didn't help that one Casio graphing calculator about ten years ago. The only reason to want color is for games, and games aren't the point of having a graphing calculator. Anybody who wants a graphing calculator that high end can get a PDA and put a TI emulator on it. |

Total Posts: 2486 | Well, color would help to improve graphing abilities of a calc. We all know that on B/W screen more graphing 4 or 5 graphs will look like a big mess. I'm sure there will be other uses for color screen other than games... Besides, it with current technology it wouldn't cost THAT much to add a color screen even if its just 128 or 256 colors. With a color screen even current screen resolution will be fine. That color casio calc btw did draw nice looking graphs but I don't like its interface and there's practically no software for it. Besides, I think TI could make a color screen into a big thing. They could say, "Hey, since we're so much into GRAPHING calcs, then color screen would greatly improve that capability." Since most people get TI graphing calc for their ability to draw graphs I think that improving that ability would generally benefit the consumer. As with PDAs, they don't have a kind of keayboard needed for to make that device efficient as a calculator, besides, PDAs would not be allowed on tests anyway. Also, if you get a pda and advanced graphing prog for it, you'll probably be spending some good money. Also don't forget that there probably won't be a much math/sci software for a PDA... Well, that's your opinion so I'm not going to argue with you, I merely state my views.

The problem is i have downloaded the gold phoenix game on my computer but when i send ti to my TI-84 silver it doesn't work so i don't konw what to do and i am not calculator literate so i don't know what to do to get it to work. The other phoenix games work (or most of them) but not gold phoenix so can yall tell me please where to find a CALCUALTOR EMULATOR? I doownloaded what i thought was a emulator off of ticalc.org but it had to down load rom crape from my calc which was not a ti-83 like it wanted so i need some help LOTS OF HELP |

Edit | AS i see it a calc is a lil bit like a palm pilot or ipod. Will these calcs be able to have wireless net and let us talk to other ppl while we are taking a test (i hope so, i'd pass everything). As far as upgrading ram and memory all there's left is to start making more programs |
