I'm officially listed as the staff's newsletter editor. Since I've come out of my semi-retirement, I think it's time I do what my job description says and start a newsletter. I'm awaiting word from Barrett on whether I can go ahead with producing this CG newsletter, but I have no doubt he'll agree to it. My goal is to make this a monthly newsletter, but if there's just not enough content, I might back off on that and make it a bi-monthly newsletter like ticalc.org is doing.

Now onto why I'm posting this...

A newsletter is pretty boring if it just contains an interview and a recap of the month's news. We need more content than that. While it's my job to produce a large portion of that content, the newsletter needs YOU to make it happen.

If there's a question you'd like to ask or you have an opinion you'd like to voice, send a letter to the editor. We're also looking for content, such as opinions and tutorials, if they're well written. If you'd like to submit content or ideas to the newsletter, I'd ask you e-mail them to me at redux@calcgames.org and tell me you're writing about the newsletter.

Thanks. I hope there'll be good community participation in making this newsletter a reality.

Sounds like a good idea and you mentioned the same fact why out newsletter forum had no posts. I guess the newsletter doesn't necessarily have to be a newsletter but rather something entertaining or perhaps informative so calc community to read.
I agree with you on your community participation remark, also the number of people who checked "receive newsletter" checkbox in their forum profile is pretty large so I take it many folks would like to receive a CG newsletter.

Okay, I just posted something about this to the front page. I've already done some work on the featured content for this newsletter. Hopefully we'll get lots of community participation.

A suggestion. Maybe somewhere in the newsletter might be room for a 'site of the month' or something along those lines. This would help sites that are not too well known get recognized.
I am currently working on a list of sites on my Web Page.
I am not sure how other people feel about this though.

I like that idea, TI Freak. I also think there should be a "Program of the Month" to showcase new and inovative prog's. What'd you think?

I like that as well. Maybe I could get my Star Trek game on there... : D

Lol, maybe. I also think there could be a Noob corner, to help newbs with basic stuff, like BASIC, how to fix a bug, ect.

Tips or something of that sort would be cool. I think various hidden shortcuts and other not very known nicies would be a good occasional addition.

We'll see what we can do about the site of the month idea. Tips and tricks is definitely a good thing and something I'll look into. As always, if you have any tips and tricks you think others should know, please submit them to me. I'll try to look into some of this stuff on my own and find some tips and tricks, but I'm pretty busy writing other content and with my last semester as an undergrad starting this next week there'll be plenty of work.

Thanks for the suggestions.
