Is there any way to convert from the ti-89 basic to ti 83 plus basic?

Without manually editing the code and making the program look radically different? no.

This would be pretty touch and impossible in some cases because 89 basic is FAR superior to 83p. Even menu stuff would need to be changed a lot. Let's say it may be possible but with quite a lot of effort and obviously a very good knowledge of both languages.

What they're saying is that there's no ghostbuster-type program that can translate between the two languages. Mainly because they have different microprocessors (68k and z80) and different basic instructions.

If it's a very simple program, yes, you can port it from the 89 family to the 83 family. However, as was mentioned, the 89 has built in commands that do things that are VERY hard to implement on the 8x calculators.

BTW, is there any way to make a menu on the 89, like on the 83+?

Z already answered this question somewhere else I believe. Use the 89's drop-down menus to the same effect as an 8x menu.

Yes, but you'll have to edit the code so that it is compatible with the ti 83. :)
