No, you must have a cable that connects your calculator to your computer, and please do not post topic names in all caps again.

Your 83+SE calc already came with a USB cable so that you can connect it to your computer. You just have to install TI-Connect software from a cd that came with your calc and you can then send games and other programs. Have a look at our visual FAQ to learn how you can do all that:
83+ Beginners Guide

Feel free to post back if you're still stuck or have other questions.

That doesn't matter at all, the only difference between an 83 Plus and an 83 Plus SE is the SE has more memory. Did you install the software on the CD before using the cable?

also make sure there is not something else that use the COM port where the cable is connected, like a modem. Try plugging your cable into another communication port. With my serial cable I have to use COM2 because COM1 doesnt work at all.

Make sure you tell TI-Connect that you are using a USB cable. Actually, it should automatically detect the cable and calculator if everything is hooked up and turned on.

Make sure that you are using TI Connect and not the Graph Link software. They are not the same thing.

ok, i dunno...

did you let your OS pick your USB driver? i had a few issues on my new comp, where when i installed TI-Connect it still wouldnt connect. if you let windows pick a driver, it says it wont work, but i had to do it that way.

i will try to help you, but i need some info.

Operating Sys on computer?
do you have the disk that came with it?

if you dont have windows 95,98,XP, or any other plug-and-play model, i cant help you here... ive never installed a calc on a NT based system, only Dos based...
