Is there any command that would "simplify" an expression on any of the TI calcs? Such as you type in "x*x*y" and it displays "x^2y". I know that I could easily do that problem in my head, but I want to be able to simplify much more complicated things easily!

68k calcs can do that. I believe the command is tcollect( or something to that effect. I know I have usedit in the past, but itsbeen a while since I had a math class.

For the 89 family, you simply enter x*x*y and it will give you x^2y.

For the 83 Plus family, you will need to use Symbolic.

For the 86 family, I am not aware of any programs that allow symbolic manipulation.

Can't you also use pretty print for the 83+? Or does that just make it look nice?

I don't know for sure. It's been a couple of years since I used that particular application. As I remember, it did make it look nice...

I think pretty print was only to allow for easy viewing of complex commands as well is visual entry to complex commands. It did not provide any math functions if I'm not mistaken.

About the only math it can do is paste the formula to the home screen for calculating it, if you wanted too. Actually, that's not really math.

Nope, that's called echoing from a buffer.
