I am going to port one of the greatest text games to the TI-83+ (name not to be anounced yet). This game has many questions choices, 7 endings, and lots and lots of text. I could program this with basic, but that would take 3 to 4 years. So instead of doing that I have been looking for a text rpg engine/maker/kit, for the pc, that can make TI-83+ games with.

If you know of one please post a link to the download.

Your help will be appreciated and your screen name will be included in the special thanks or credits list in the game.

Thanks for your help,

I can suggest for PC development The Games Factory. You can find a demo at clickteam.com. If you'd like to make it for the 8x series, find the TI-Graphlink software (available at the TI website.)

I'm not sure there's such an engine available, at least not for the 83 series. There are some for the 68k though. For 83, I'd suggest you make your own RPG editor and then use it to aid you in game creation. That wouldn't be easy but who said making a good game would be easy?

Did you design that game? Did you make a engine to make that game? If all these are true, you might have what I want... PLEASE RELEASE IT!

Keep posting other engines! Thanks

JcCorp, how can I make a game created with Games Factory and run it on a calc. I want a .8xp file or something that runs on a calc, for the game.

Text rpg, as in You read text and make choices based on that, or as in an ascii-art rpg? If you mean the former, which I believe to be true, then all you need to do is use the disp/output/menu commands to good effect. Just display the quest, give the user a menu to pick their option, and jump to a location in the prog based on that. It really doesn't reequire too much of an engine unless you want battling or other, more complicated things.

Yes, that is exactly what it is. Though I want a engine so that I can edit on a PC, this text rpg is like a long choose your own adventure book and is practically impossible to program on a calculator, it is very complex with its large amount of endings. Though mainly what is stoping me is the amount of text.

Ohhh, you mean a program so that you can edit the game on your pc? You can use graphlink, which allows you to edit BASIC progs on your comp, but that would mean you have to format the game data however you want it to be, still.

I think i found something that works, it is a basic compiler http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/40/4065.html. That you can type basic in and it will save the program as a .TBF. What should I do after I get the .TBF, how do I run it on a calc?
