I started this thread because nobody else seemed to want to, and it took longer than 4 seconds to load the last thread.

That's undeniable, but I think it's a natural cycle, and yes, humans probably are affecting the enviroment, but not to the full extent everyone seems to believe in.
The earth has ice ages (Any one remember about the one 10,000 years ago?). By studying the ice in the artic, scientists, by whatever means, can see that the earth fluxitates in temperature. It's not like the weather in Washington is always going to be rainy... :-)
Edit: Sorry for the spelling, because I know you are probably going to point that out.

spiral Wraith Posted: 13 Apr 2004 11:19 GMT Total Posts: 958 | "BAN DIHYDROGEN MONOXIDE!
Dihydrogen monoxide is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and kills uncounted thousands of people every year. Most of these deaths are caused by accidental inhalation of DHMO, but the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide do not end there. Prolonged exposure to its solid form causes severe tissue damage. Symptoms of DHMO ingestion can include excessive sweating and urination, and possibly a bloated feeling, nausea, vomiting and body electrolyte imbalance. For those who have become dependent, DHMO withdrawal means certain death.
Dihydrogen monoxide:
* is also known as hydroxl acid, and is the major component of acid rain. * contributes to the "greenhouse effect." * may cause severe burns. * contributes to the erosion of our natural landscape. * accelerates corrosion and rusting of many metals. * may cause electrical failures and decreased effectiveness of automobile brakes. * has been found in excised tumors of terminal cancer patients.
Contamination is reaching epidemic proportions!
Quantities of dihydrogen monoxide have been found in almost every stream, lake, and reservoir in America today. But the pollution is global, and the contaminant has even been found in Antarctic ice. DHMO has caused millions of dollars of property damage in the midwest, and recently California.
Despite the danger, dihydrogen monoxide is often used:
* as an industrial solvent and coolant. * in nuclear power plants. * in the production of styrofoam. * as a fire retardant. * in many forms of cruel animal research. * in the distribution of pesticides. Even after washing, produce remains contaminated by this chemical. * as an additive in certain "junk-foods" and other food products.
Companies dump waste DHMO into rivers and the ocean, and nothing can be done to stop them because this practice is still legal. The impact on wildlife is extreme, and we cannot afford to ignore it any longer!
The American government has refused to ban the production, distribution, or use of this damaging chemical due to its "importance to the economic health of this nation." In fact, the navy and other military organizations are conducting experiments with DHMO, and designing multi-billion dollar devices to control and utilize it during warfare situations. Hundreds of military research facilities receive tons of it through a highly sophisticated underground distribution network. Many store large quantities for later use."
I think we should ban Dihydrogen oxide ;) |

Heh, where I live, for april fools, a couple of seattle DJ's decided to play that prank. Bremerton is a navy city that everyone makes fun of, and the DJ's said that it's water had 'Dihydrogen monoxide'. Big mistake, appearentally the entire county (my neighbering one), kitsap (where the new movie with the rock is based) is really, really, stupid. Yep, thats right, the emergency magagement for the county got 500+ calls about the DM in the water...and the editorials in the local paper blast the dj's for 'preying on the fears from 9-11', whatever that means... |

Seriously, if I'm thirsty I'll go for water. However, if I'm lacking energy then I'll get something to help myself in that area. Usually Sprite or something similar. Caffeine, the little I've had in my life, isn't very good for me. (I get extremely hyper...)

[that's what we call it] those whiny brats that people sometimes refer to as 5th graders wwon't let you have more than a minute of sleep at a time. No joke. My friend did it and when she came back, she looked like a fricken zombie. My advice: 1) Don't do it ever again 2) Bring a twelve-pack of coca-cola [or pepsi :/][or anything with a large dose of caffiene] 3) Bring sound-proof earmuffs 4) Bring something protable to entertain yourself with [e.g.MP3 player, game boy, calculator :)]
Also, are the WASL tests you spke of those standardized tests you take every year? cause we have to take those, and boy are they annoying!! [we call 'em STAR {Standardized Testing And Reporting} tests where i live {California}]

That being said, I only think 90% of little kids out there are annoying. I think 9% are sickos. So, out of all those kids at that camp, there is probably one kid who is qieut and nice.Until you go to sleep, that is... |

Hey lunchbox, I dunno if you notices or not but there's a little "stats" link at the bottom of the poll. click it and voila, all the stats pop up and they just happened to have dates too. in short, that poll has been out for quite some time, so there, i just threw up a new poll for you guys. okay, that was a bit sarcastic but please take no offence.

It's ridiculous how aweful some of those middle schoolers are though. They seem even more perverted than when i was in middle school, only a few people in my year were really bad. Thank goodness people mature by frosh/sophomore year. I was talking to a teacher of mine a while ago and he was talking about the amazing difference between teaching a frosh class and a sophomore class. And he also said teaching seniors is easy, keeping them in class isn't.
little kids aren't too bad, way better than some people. |
Evil Kirby Dragoon Posted: 22 Apr 2004 15:28 GMT Total Posts: 55 | Yeah man, it's shocking how much middle schoolers know now. They need to put more limits on the internet. Some middle-schoolers in my SCOUTS group know things that I learned only a few months ago. And these are Scouts. Imagine what normal little kids are like.
Overall, kids these days know way more than I did at their age. Maybe it was because I spent so much time walking to school barefoot in the snow, 5 miles, uphill.
