HWReaver Probe Posted: 20 Apr 2010 21:11 GMT Total Posts: 1 | Hi, I stumbled on this site looking for a solution to my problem but nothing I read seemed to work so I was hoping I missed something and someone could help me out.
My TI-89 Titanium has a frozen screen (can't move around can't select anything, clock stays @ 12:00AM etc.). I have tried various methods to try and get this solved and none of these have worked:
I tried the left arrow, right arrow, 2nd, on method and that shows me Installation in progress please wait and it quickly goes back to the home screen and I still cant move or press anything. I also tried holding on for 30 seconds with the battery out and then putting the battery in with on held. Also tried holding (-) and ) and this didn't work either. I left the batteries out over night (yes even the little backup one) and this didn't help. It won't connect to TI Device Explorer so I can't reinstall the OS.
Prior to this happening I haven't use this calculator in at least 6 months, and it was working fine, I replaced the batteries with brand new ones since the old ones were dead and this started happening. Any help would be appreciated. |

Here is the page for the Ti89. you can get the newest OS off the navigation on the left. And if you go here, you can get the latest version of Ti connect under connectivity software. I realize you said that you weren't able to connect to TI device explorer by the way I just thought that it would be good to make sure everything was up to date. And make sure to check all of you connections from the calc to the computer. Using these I would suggest you retry updating the OS again.
My question, on that note, is... does the computer recognize the calculator at all, is it just the program that can't see it? would think that would be a bigger problem that just the program. : ) And if none of that helps, here you can find the technical support page, and maybe they could help you, but they might have you just do what you have done already. I hope that can help, I'm sure someone else will notice this and have some other wisdom to share. |

While holding it down, open the battery compartment and remove all of the batteries, including the button battery. Still holding [ON], replace all of them. The calc should now work.
