OS 2.43 released for TI-84+/SEallynfolksjr
TI has released operating system 2.43 for the TI-84+ series of calculators. Apparently the only feature added from 2.41 is that TI has added a new "feature" that lets the user press [8] + [2] on startup to delete everything on the calculator except some language localization apps and catalog help, and the accompanying screen is titled "Delete Apps, Programs for Singapore" although the apps that are left include Swedish and Finnish--neither of which are used often in Singapore. This expands on the [8] + [5] feature added on 2.41 that just deletes all data on the calculator.

This may also indicate a trend for Operating system naming, as 2.41 and 2.43 are both native 84+ releases, while 2.42 and 2.44 are for the TI-Nspire.

It also seems that your clock remains set after a RAM clear with 2.43.

A screenshot of the "Singapore" screen is also available for general consumption.

Thanks to BrandonW for the quick analysis of 2.43, as usual.

And *cough* the patch to kill it, too.

Feel free to delete this. :)

It also seems that the linked words failed to display correctly on the front page, so while it may seem plausible, "TI has released operating system for the TI-84+ series of calculators" is in fact not correct, because the Soviet Union is no longer in existence.

Well, first off, it says "Singapore," not "Singapor."

Second, I'm guessing no one here knows. TI _might_ want to dish out a 2.45 sometime soon.

I'm sure it has to do with the country Singapore, because what it does differently when displaying that is preserve a couple more language localization applications.

I'm sure it's some obscure thing that a client asked for, probably like Press-to-Test, which no one uses, but I'm sure there's at least one teacher in the world with up-to-date 84+/SEs exclusively and locks them before every test. (Un)Fortunately, most teachers don't have a clue what it is.

Yeah that's kind of what I figured. One of my teachers uses a lot of those things so I'm a little familiar with it.
