JerryG20 Probe Posted: 7 Mar 2007 19:10 GMT Total Posts: 2 | I've read a few guides on the internet on getting games on the Ti-84, but most are too brief and don't have enough detail to help troubleshoot. I'm trying to put the game Picross on my Ti-84+.
The Picross game is assembly based. It came with 2 main files (and a couple readmes); a .z80 file and a .83P file. From what I've read, I'm only supposed to transfer the .83P, correct?
Now, I'm using TI Connect to transfer the files, but WHERE (SPECIFICALLY) do I send the file? Some guides just say throw it in the RAM, but HOW? They say something about going to "Link," but there is no such option in the TI Connect program. Right now, I have the pircoss.83P file in "Protected Program."
Now, I need a shell. I downloaded numerous shells (Doors, Ion, Venus, etc.) and couldn't get any to work. They all game in a group file (.83g). Where SPECIFICALLY do I put this file? Whenever I try to transfer it TI Connect tells me "This group file does not contain any valid files for the target device." If I open up the group file it is quite clear that it contains Ti compatible files.
So, I am unable to transfer the group file. So, I resorted to extracting it all and then sending these files. This worked, but then I'm left with 3-4 different programs that I can execute, and I don't think they were meant to be executed independently. Choosing any one of them results in a syntax error.
So, what exactly am I doing wrong here? Can somebody please help me?
Thank you for your time. |

An 83p file is not compatible with the TI-84+. You'll need an 8xp file.
If you get a syntax error when running a program from the program menu and it doesn't show up in MirageOS, it's likely something called a nostub program. In order to run it, open the catalog by hitting 2nd-0, scroll to "Asm(", hit enter, then select the program name from the menu. When you've finished, you should see a line of text saying: Asm(prgmNAME Hit enter to run the program. If it doesn't work then, it's not an executable and is probably a data storage for another program like a map or savegame file. Also, if the file ends in 8xk, it's an Application and should be run from the Apps menu.
