I would just like to announce that I received my birthday present early, mainly because I paid for about half of it. I now own an HP-49G+ graphing calculator. This thing is awesome. :img20: Anyway, we return you now to your regulary scheduled program.

Thanks D. It means so much to me that you'd wish me happy birthday. :img06:

Anyway, this baby has an SD card slot, IrDA link port (yet to test it out), plugs into the computer with a USB cable (came with it), and has a speedy 3D grapher. The homescreen isn't as nice as the 89's in some ways. Although a good deal of your settings are given to you at the top of the screen. (And you have an option for date and time in that display area. Nice feature.) I haven't figured out any programming yet, although I do have plans to. I have found the memory management thing. You can basically do what the 89 can, except reset the entire memory. You have to manually delete variables if you want them gone. (However, there is one of those little "Reset" buttons you can push on the back with a paper clip.)

My favorite feature, I'd have to say, would be the equation writer. Built in. If you want to enter an equation to be graphed, that's there it takes you and you can put it in that way. (For those who don't know what an equation writer is, it lets you put in your equations in textbook form-or the way they appear in the textbook.)

The manual, sadly, is of little help. The people over at HP were considerate enough to program in a little help section for each of the commands on the calculator. It basically tells you how to use it. So all is not lost. :-)

And that's pretty much an overview of what I've figured out so far.

Too bad TI does not do it like that. It would have saved me so much time when I was learneing BASIC.

the 68k caculator's catalog tells a little about how to use functions. It takes some deciphering to read the funny words tho. I've never tried BASIC on the 68k, in large part because I bought mine from someone with no manual.

It will be very hard without the manual, S.

Which is why I haven't, and don't intend to learn BASIC. I can use a lot of the calculator's functions tho.

BTW, you can download a complete copy from TI in pdf format.

It's a pain to look through, though. None of the versatility of having the actual book in your hand.
