I've got Washington, Oklahoma, UConn, and Illinois in the Final Four with Illinois winning it all.
What do you think? |

That would be great, if Missouri were actually in the tournament. They're in the NIT this year. :img12:

Jayhawk Dragoon Posted: 18 Mar 2005 21:51 GMT Total Posts: 80 | Missouri lost at home to Depaul in the first round of the NIT. That's really disappointing.
But I'm still really enjoying postseason basketball. Nothing beats a Kansas loss, especially when it's in the first round. Sure, I didn't pick it, but that's one time I'm glad to have my bracket busted. :)
And it's not busted too much because of that game. I had KU getting bounced in the next round by Northern Iowa (which also lost). The Northern Iowa loss hurts my bracket much more.

Jayhawk Dragoon Posted: 18 Mar 2005 22:17 GMT Total Posts: 80 | This is going to be a bit long, but I'm going to comment on Missouri.
They had to be one of the last teams to get into the NIT. Missouri just wasn't impressive in the second half of the season. Despite losing Paulding, Johnson, and Bryant, there still was plenty of talent. They'll lose Conley after this year, but still have a lot of young talent. There's enough talent to make Missouri a contender in the Big 12. They've just never succeeded to getting the most out of the talent on the team. The offense is a mess. I've never seen a team before that looks afraid to attack the basket.
It's just not a good time to be a Missouri fan. The football team choked this year. It really seems like the management of the athletic department is a mess. Despite the NCAA sanctions, I really think Quin Snyder runs a clean program. I think Pinkel does, too. I just think management is shaky. Our AD, Mike Alden, really needs to go. He's embarrassed Missouri. And one more note about Quin Snyder is that two other coaches were also highly regarded at the time Missouri hired him. One was Bill Self. Tonight's loss by KU is a fine example of why he wouldn't have been a good choice. The other was John Calipari. While he hasn't drawn an investigation by the NCAA, I've heard his ethics questioned. Quin wasn't a bad hire.
There's some other things going on, too. For example, a certain school in Springfield (Southwest Missouri State) is about to be renamed to Missouri State University. That's the old name of the University of Missouri. SMS has no legitimate claim to it. There's two land grant universities in Missouri -- MU and Lincoln University (in Jefferson City). No other school could legitimately call itself Missouri State University. And SMS certainly isn't on par with MU as far as what they offer academically. But yet they're going to get the name change they want.
It's a tough time to be a fan of and a student at MU. Thanks for the interest and rooting for MU, though. Hopefully next year will be better.
But it's still good to see Kansas lose. :) |

Jayhawk Dragoon Posted: 21 Mar 2005 12:47 GMT Total Posts: 80 | To the complaining.. not everything in this section is going to interest everyone. But there's more going on than calculators. If you find something else more interesting, you can post a thread about it.
Moving on...
I've got to ask, how many people have brackets that are still reasonably intact? I had UConn and OU in the final four. Those are total busts. I had Wake in the elite eight. So my bracket is pretty much a huge mess. How's everyone else doing? |
zedd Ultralisk Posted: 21 Mar 2005 13:27 GMT Total Posts: 428 | Redux..... I was only asking!......I'm interested in how basket ball interestes u guys! HA! Besides B-ballisn't a spectator sport, it's better off being played.

Jayhawk Dragoon Posted: 22 Mar 2005 14:59 GMT Total Posts: 80 | I really like watching basketball, because it's usually pretty fast paced, there's a lot of displays of raw athleticism, and it's one sport that is easy to play. You can't play football without a lot of people. Good luck with hockey or baseball. At least where I'm at, there's not a lot of people around to play, and there's certainly not any ice around. Basketball is about the only thing around. There's basketball hoops everywhere. And as much as I enjoy playing, I also enjoy watching. There's nothing more thrilling than watching a major upset -- particularly when it's Kansas that's getting knocked off (thank you Bucknell!). :)
Hopefully that explains it. :) |
