Im glad that you all feel this way. i know that his kidneys have failed, and i agree, he will probly die very very soon. we should all hope (and pray if you want) that he gets better and if he cant, that he at least doesnt suffer.

korkow Ultralisk Posted: 1 Apr 2005 20:35 GMT Total Posts: 465 | Also, mainly remember to pray for a peaceful passing rather than for him to live, because he is (I don't mean to be disrespectful) obviously going to die VERY soon.
I will check the news first thing in the morning for an update
Goodnight, -Korkow

yes this is totaly unrelated but yes zedd I do take french as a matter of fact although je suis quoi je suis is bad grammer but the proper way of saying it is je suis quel je suis but that was taken on aim and I was too lazy to think of something else so voila by the way it means "I am what I am" and If you would like I could help you but I don't think this exact thread is the right place to talk about this how about you IM me although I've only just finished french 1 and I don't know where you are so yeah just IM me |

alex10819 Wraith Posted: 2 Apr 2005 12:07 GMT Total Posts: 507 | on the news last night, they said that he might be made a saint... now we just need some miracles (literally, the person has to perform miracles after death apparently) |
je suis quoi je suis Marine Posted: 2 Apr 2005 12:41 GMT Total Posts: 22 | yes I believe he WILL be made a Saint but no there do not have to be any miracles for him to become one
[Edited by je suis quoi je suis on 02-Apr-05 22:43] |
alex10819 Wraith Posted: 2 Apr 2005 12:48 GMT Total Posts: 507 | yes, the first miracle gets the person (forgot the word), and the second makes them eligible to be a saint...that, or ABC lies on the evening news... |
je suis quoi je suis Marine Posted: 2 Apr 2005 13:00 GMT Total Posts: 22 | woops I'm wrong I just checked with my mom I just didn't thihnk they would HAVE to have miracles :img27: |
JcCorp Probe Posted: 2 Apr 2005 14:15 GMT Total Posts: Edit | Miracles ARE needed to make someone a saint. I believe they are canonized first. Or canonization is the process for becoming a saint, I can't remember. I learned a bit about this in a Joan of Ark report I did a few years back. |

Posted: 2 Apr 2005 14:41 GMT Total Posts: 2007 | 1) Canonization is the proceess of becoming a saint 2) Canonization usually takes ALOT of time (after death) for the decision process, etc. 3) Joan of Arc 4) Don't need miracles to become a siant, but it wouldn't hurt.

Jayhawk Dragoon Posted: 3 Apr 2005 16:08 GMT Total Posts: 80 | There are two steps to becoming a saint.
The first step is beatification. Two miracles are required for this. At this point, the person is referred to as blessed. The second step is canonization which requires evidence of additional miracles. For both of these, it must also be shown that the person emulated the life of Christ in his or her life. I doubt it will be too difficult to find a few miracles attributed to Pope John Paul II. After all, under this Pope, more saints were canonized than under any other Pope. There are many miracles attributed to people, even today. One of the more famous people to be made a saint in recent memory is Saint Pio of Pietrelcina who has numerious miracles attributed to him, in addition to being a stigmatist. He lived in the 20th century and science was unable to explain many miracles attributed to him, nor the stigmata he had for 50 years.
One of the things that will without a doubt be considered is the Pope's forgiving of the man who shot him. Also, the Pope's efforts to oppose communism and to reach out to people in all parts of the world will certainly help his cause. The Pope's efforts as a young man to become a preist while Poland was controlled by the Nazis will be used to support him as well. He actively opposed the Nazis in a peaceful way through theater. I would expect that the Pope's battling of Parkinson's disease will be considered as well. He lived 19 years with the disease and it did not slow down his travel and his efforts to reach out to the world and bring peace.
I would be surprised if Pope John Paul II isn't canonized.
And I certainly think it's appropriate to discuss these things here. I certainly think the news about the Pope was more important than any April Fools joke. |
