Yo wat up my hommies!
JK JK. yeah just really busy doing other stuff.
I know you all missed me.
Hey Jc! I see you got another avatar! (*chuckle*)
Whatever. Back to the topic

As some of you guys know, I'm trying to make a fan film. A NO budget one of course. And i remembered i was a member here at CG.org. Since you guys know lots of stuff i thought you can help.

The plot is set the actors are pumped but we have no decent programs for editing.
I would like to know if you guys have suggestions for that type of thing.
Here are the conditions:
Something free (completely free of charge)doesn't matter if it comes out cr*ppy, as long as it works.
Rotoscoping(light sabers and what not)
blue/green screen stuff

Oh and any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: just remembered that i could use suggeations about what music to play for the fight scene and credits.

I think if someone has a mac, iMovie can do everything you need, but I'm sure others will respond with more specific advice.

For the basic movie editing I've done, I just used windows movie maker, it's free and probably preinstalled.

Definitely get in contact with Alex10819. He's an experienced movie player. And yes, I know I need to get a new avatar... ;)

I agree with bcherry, iMovie (as much as I dislike Macs) is a great program for movie editing, and, in fact, for our school film festival our teachers make movies every year, using (You guessed it) lightsabers and bluescreen. I'm not sure how to do it, but I coulod probably get them to explain it to me or you...

Music? well I'm fond of The Crystal Method - High Roller (for credits) and for fight scenes? System of a Down - Chop Suey is always good :P

well i guess semi-exp is a lot better than no exp. am I right?
ALEX,
Are you familiar with rotoscoping?
that's my main concern right now. It would help so much. I don't think windows MM does that.

For songs I prefer maybe something with no singing involved.
Chop Suey? never heard of it.

please, more suggestions. this is great!

EDIT: I just don't think that windows will cut it.

Do you have a mac? Because if you do, get Alam and IMovie, it will do all the things you want: THIS is a fine example of those 2 programs at work. Final Cut Express can be easily pirated, unlike it's cousin final cut pro, and it does good green and blue screen. For lightsabers, I use Flash MX 2004. Watch it all the way thorugh, the 3rd ending is the best.
