dark Probe Posted: 26 Aug 2003 15:24 GMT Total Posts: 4 | i have resently downloaded some games which are very large. their so big i cant even have the whole thing unarchived. i have the ability to modify most of theis game. the other day i tried to ad the lines unarhive and archive before and after the execute prgm commands in the primary programs code, but when i did this it just ignored the lines i add and complained about the program it tried to execute was archived. what im getting at is their any way to have a program unarchive stuff as it needs it and archive it when it done with it. if their isnt is their some way of maybe converting some of the arc mem into ram mem? someone please help me this problem is bugging me. |
spiral Wraith Posted: 26 Aug 2003 20:39 GMT Total Posts: 958 | what games are you having this problem with.
If it's FF:TOM, part of the problem might be due to the fact the parts are only suppose to be left unarchived one at a time.
For the most part, editing other people's BASIC programs (which are normally bugless) is more likel to cause bugs.
The unarchive and archive commands aren't for running inside the program.
To put games in ARC memory, press 2nd and the + button. Go to memory, and press enter to programs with no astericks next to it. Also, delete non-programs, and archive the extra programs that are not related to the one you are running. |
BullFrog Wraith Posted: 27 Aug 2003 16:21 GMT Total Posts: 623 | Well, considering the fact that the program must be unarchived to run, of course it won't read those commands you added if it's archived. I don't even think the 83 Plus can (un)archive programs... (Only variables and stuff, isn't it?)

spiral Wraith Posted: 28 Aug 2003 16:54 GMT Total Posts: 958 | I do believe that is the case bullfrog,
and btw, putting just the command "archive" or "unarchive" will instantly result in a syntax error anyways I think

BullFrog Wraith Posted: 29 Aug 2003 14:33 GMT Total Posts: 623 | djgustashaw, I believe we're talking about doing it from within a program. If I'm not mistaken, you're referring to the Memory menu and how to do it from there.
