Is anyone going to make some good rpgs/other good games for the TI-89? That would be great, since the 89 is relatively new, there are few games out for it, and also most of them are in French (source codes i mean)(also, nothing really against the french >= Ð). Im trying to learn programming in C for the 89, so i can test it, and hopefully make them work on my Titanium. Also, to whoever made VTI.... can you please enable support for the Titanium!

Thanks for your info.

PS Also, what are the calculators they came out with GTA on? Im a GTA freak, and im thinking its most like GTA 1 or 2, but GTA is GTA none the less.

The TI-89 isn't new at all. It's been out for 7 years or so, I think. Yes, since 1998. If you want some games for it, look here (look left) or here.

The 89Ti did come out about a year ago, but it is compatible with every BASIC program for the 89, and most ASM/C programs can be patched using the programs found here (look left). Run HW3Patch to fix the OS, then run GhostBuster on every program to make sure they don't have any problems. Also, any programs compiled with a recent version of TIGCC have native support for the Titanium.

As GTA is a very complex game, I somehow doubt there will be a calculator port, though I may be wrong. A quick look at ticalc's archives using the search function just turns up some silly BASIC programs which aren't really worth anything. Sorry bud.

Yeah, i thought so... >_<'

I use Ghostbuster, and HW3 (im getting the new one today for the OS upgrade, 3.01). I have heard from some other parts of the forum that GTA was messing up his calc...? Correct me if im wrong but it also seems that everyone over at ticalc.org has died off, the last post was in Feb. about wanting to know how to make games Titaniumn compatible. Its sad that there arent many (truthfully good) games out for the 89, but i will keep watching.

Where are you getting the last post on ticalc being in February? There was new news posted yesterday.

Also, there are several very good games for the 89. You should go get Kirby, Mario, and Quadra. Gran Tourismo is good too, as is TI-Chess.

no offense Andy but GT is not at all fun for the 89...
If you want to know why (I don't flame...) PM me...

BASIC flames are for n00bs, you don't want to be a n00b do you? | My other calc is a Porsche.

It gave me a week or so of enjoyment... It does get boring quick though.

It promises "realistic physics" ...the brake acts like your driving on butter... with ALL cars... :)

Actually, when you use brakes on cars and the wheels lock up, you can't control your path. Even when the wheels DON'T lock up, you get drastically reduced handling. The contact patch can either slow you down or control your direction, not both at once. :)

edit: That's why you brake BEFORE you get to the turn. :)

I do... and a little during the turn... but still in real life i wouldn't SLAM on the brakes... I would gently press...

On the topic of good games for the 89... what in the world are you talking about? There are a ton of amazing games for the 89! Have you tried Bomberdude? Have you tried Oblivion? Have you tried GT (Sorry Xero, but I disagree with you...)? Have you tried Kirby? Have you tried TI Chess? Have you even looked at this page? If not, then I suggest you take a look.

What are you all talking about? GT is one of the best games for the 68k! And Andy's right, the breaking is realistic, and that's why its slightly harder than most racing games for the calculator.

Seriously, I played GT so much last year. I remember taking the SAT and trying to finish the math sections as fast as possible so I could get back to GT and try and get my A+ license. I did get it, in the last 5 minutes of the last math section. I walked out of that test very happy. No wonder I did better on the verbal that time...

Nice Bcherry. I did the same thing, except w/ Lotus for the 83+ and on the STAR tests (Cali's standardized tests) and beat the entire game in the 2 days we took the test.

If I understood my directives correctly, the proper way of handling stuff that is in the FAQ is to < <faq ##>> (no space there), which is what I did. Granted, closing the thread might have been a bit much, but... There's no need for further discussion.

Sorry for taking a while for my update, to the first question, i was in the programming section for the 89, forum on Ticalc, where the last post was February.

Also, I have the ASM/C games (most are from Ticalc) Blob, Blockman, TiChess, Calc Rouge (newest ver i think), CTC2, CalcWars (advance wars from GBA), Gundealer (reminds me of Drugwars for 83), Majongg, Monster, Phoenix Platinum, RTS (Real Time Strategy, Warcraft-ish), Space Dementia 2 (cool graphics!), Solitaire, Spacewars 2, Strategery (anyone play rodents revege?), and Tetris. (Isnt the upgraded RAM and Flash ROM on the Titanium great?) I also have the basic game "War of the Arthropods" which im looking at to see how far basic programming has come since i programmed basic for the 83.

I have GT in a Zip archive, along with a bunch of other games that im not sure will work or not. Havent used GB on em yet.

Also can anyone give me advice on a good C tutorial?

PS I've heard that they're coming out with a portable C writer for the 89, that would be great instead of having to wait to porgram on your computer, would be better if it was on 89T.

Oh yes, most people don't know about the other forums/mailing lists on ticalc... Tis sad.

Regarding on-calc C compiler: Again, if it would work on an 89 it's almost guaranteed to work on an 89T.

Of course theres forums on Ticalc, go to the programming section, i was talking about how in the upcoming games (TI-89) area that there is a post that is Feb, which is very outdated. I hate how people announce a big game then drop it without telling anyone. I know this without being signed up to them, this is a more active area for posts.

Anyone with advice on a good C tutorial?

Also join the forum at www.gse.calcgames.org/forum
Its a pretty good one, if not new.

Tutorials you ask? The two best are:
Technoplaza and the TIGCC Documentation itself.
That or find someone kind and caring to offer personal help. (feel free to email me, I will always answer questions [and probably in more detail than you might like...])

That would be true, and technoplaza is very good. I learned from them, except I'm concentrating on 83+ asm right now.

I agree! Its a nice game so far, but i couldnt figure out where to go so i deleted it off my calc. Now i kinda miss it for its graphics.

='(

Also got the source file for it from TIcalc.org...

Does this mean they're not working on it anymore? (Also the source is in *gasp* FRENCH!)

Other games that could use improvement are CTC2, which i would love to have it with greyscale graphics.

One last thing. Im a Starcraft fan, and have been checking the SC project board, but its been uneventful thus far... Is anyone working on it, because i would love to have it on my calc, that would be SO AWESOME.

Thanks for any input.

Ah, im having problems with my calc this time around. I got the new HW3Patch for version 3.01 of the AMS version for the new OS, but it doesnt wanna work. It says something about error #14 trapdoor...

I did go back and restore my 3.00 OS and the original HW3.

Any way to fix this?

*edit* Also does anyone know how to use the "compile-time" library Crash Lib?

No one really seems to update every single little thing they do...

$#@! my TiConnect is having the same problems again...I already took an hour to download 1.6, it worked for a while then has an error with TI89TTALK.dll file, the file that has all the info about connecting. I have reinstalled and uninstalled and even messed a little bit with the registry (i DID make a back up), but nothing seems to work. I dont wanna spend another hour re-downloading the same file, and TI really didnt give alot of help.

Any suggestions?
