ASM (assembly games) made for the 83+ and the 84+ will both work on the 84+. Often regular 83 ASM games will work too. Id suggest that you get MirageOS to run the games.

Incorrect, 3FG... 83 ASM programs will NOT work on a 83+/84+.

Indeed. Regular 83 ASM programs have no chance in hell of working if they use ANYTHING the OS provides (which 99.99% of them do). BASIC programs will almost definitely work, though.

Some ASM programs are made for both, though, but Andy and DSP are right, you'd screw your calc oveer if you ran an 83 asm program on your 83/84+

Hmm, I did not know that, but then, I never bothered thinking about it.

Programs that are "for both" must be reassembled. You can't link an ASM file from an 83 to an 83+ and have it work. 83 OS calls are regular CALLs; 83+ OS calls are Banked CALLs.

Yes, I know, but technically, you can use #if's around calls to direct the compiler to only compile the right call, e.g.
#ifdef TI83
call _whatever
#else
b_call(_whatever)
#endif

I've seen programs like this actually.
