I was trying to download a game but I can't seem to free enough space for it. What I don't understand is why I don't already have enough space.

I thought the Ti89 Titanium had 2.7m of flash ram. Why do I only see 256kb of ram?

like in alot of things you buy nowadays, like thumb drives or mp3 players, they say they give you a Gig of memory or whatnot, but thats never the case. they always take alittle bit of that memory for system usage, to actually run the os.

this is my only guess. Now, if your game was ment to be played with 2.7, and you cant get 2.7, then perhaps the game is almost unplayable. i know there are alot of games for the 84+se that need close to 23k, and even one that is 24k(the whole memory empty) and it is just a battle to get enuf memory for that.

but if you are trying to free up flash mem, i have never heard of that as a problem.

It has 2.7MB of flash ROM, not RAM. Flash ROM is based on the same technology as CF, SD, thumb drives, and other storage devices. So for all practical applications on your calculator, the archive (Flash ROM), is like your main storage area.

so if it is based of the same tech, there is a high chance that some of the os is using the flash.

please archive all games. you can run them from archive (flash ROM), but you must have enough space in RAM. In general keep RAM as empty as possible.

That would explain why I only saw 256k of free space. The game I tried to download is huge and even with nearly everything taking off it still said it needed more memory. I'm just going to give up on that game. At least I can get all the other games/ programs I want on there now.

Thank you for the help.
