Total Posts: 5 | I have a TI-83+SE and it has ten times more memory than it should....I know that because my friend has a 83+SE and his memory is way less than mine even when both calculators are totally cleared out with no programs (or APPS) in them. Can anyone tell me why, and if you know, can you tell me if i can make other calculators do the same thing??? Thanx |

Total Posts: 5 | I am calculating it now, but if you do know, originally when there are not K's (as in kilobites) the calculator has no label, wether it be megabites or whatnot. do you know what that the label is? |

Total Posts: 5 | ha ha wouldnt ya know it, i tried adding all of the numbers together on a different TI-83+ and it was too big of a number to add.... it wasnt in kilos tho. i could tell you easily otherwise, but i have way too many things in my archive, and i cannot delete any of them because they are all important. I have 123 things archived, and 42 of them are apps. |

Total Posts: 5 | well, i would, but im still in school, and im the guy who supplies everyone with games, and the apps they need. I even supply the teachers with stuff they need for their calculators, i fix calculators with minor problems also. (i even have fixed ones where the batteries have exploded in them. i guess im kina handy and if i get rid of the stuff then it wouldnt be a good thing lol. it really helps to have that much memory! lol |

Total Posts: 542 | you do realize that the ti84+SE has superior memory... rite? all RAMs will have 24000 at most (with nothing in the calc), and the ROM should have 1.35MB of ROM if nothing is in it. Fairly superior, would you say?

Total Posts: 235 | not only "superior" but way faster! for some TI games i create I will ask the user to tell what kinda calc he/she owns so that I can adjust the some for loops that "wait" like to give some reaction time but i have found that a program runs very differently on a 84+se from a 83+se especially if it is a game based heavily on auto-moving with for loops defining the time to wait in between the moves :) hope that made since

Total Posts: 1189 | As far as I know, the 83+SE, the 84+ and 84+SE all have 15mhz processors. Also, he said both calculators are 83+SE, so the memory should be the same.

Total Posts: 542 | the processors are faster in the ti84+se. that is why kevin oullet's XXR must find what version u are using, then change the speed to suit.

Maybe it was a glitch when they made the calculator. I was also wondering if anyone else had the same kind of issue. thanx for the help |

Back to my point. The 83+ SE, 84+, and 84+ SE *ALL* have 6/15MHz dual-speed processors. ONLY the 83+, without the SE, has a 6MHz-only processor. Also, the 83+ SE and 84+ SE have the EXACT same amount of memory in them. If anything, I'd say the 84+ SE would have LESS free memory as the OS may use more RAM on it than the 83+ SE (I doubt it does, though). The 83+ SE and 84+ SE should have a little more than 24000 bytes of RAM and 1.5 MB of Archive after a full reset. |

Total Posts: 2007 | All 83x calculators max out at 24376 bytes of free RAM, and the SE's have the 1.5 meg archive chips, compared to the paltry 168k of the regular TI-83. ANd since the archive is nothing but long-term storage, there is nothing "superior", so to speak, about the memory of the TI-84+SE. |

Change yours. I never said it was perfectly alright.
L, I have to correct you on this... The actual chip in the 83+ is 512KiB (it has to hold the OS too), and I'd bet the one in the 83+SE/84+SE is actually 2MiB but I could be wrong on this one. It has to be bigger than 1.5MiB though. :P |

Edit | They may have the same processors, and possibly the same processing speeds, but when I run the same program on the 83+SE and the 84+ the 83+SE beats the 84+ drawing out sprites and what not. Just my experience with the processor speeds... |

Total Posts: 1189 | Yep. If you get your OSes to behave the same (downgrade one or upgrade the other) then they will move at the same speed. The discontinuity checker probably is the main reason for that.
