Jonny23451 Ultralisk Posted: 2 Apr 2005 12:19 GMT Total Posts: 214 | I can't get the Dump Rom to work er something like that, Rom Dumper, it won't work. I run it on my calculator and it sez error syntax error.
If you have a TI-Graph Link and DOS or Windows:
Download and unzip romdump2.zip. - i got that
Send rom83.83p (included with romdump2.zip) to your TI-83. - i did that
Link your TI-83 to your computer. - i did that
Run romdump.exe (included with romdump2.zip) on your computer. I ran the romdump.exe, but it just closed right away...
Run the ROM dumper on your calculator. Your TI-83's ROM will be dumped to a file on your computer. - didn't get to that |
alex10819 Wraith Posted: 2 Apr 2005 12:28 GMT Total Posts: 507 | same thing happened to me... im not sure if this would work, but try running romdump.exe from command prompt
|
Jonny23451 Ultralisk Posted: 2 Apr 2005 12:52 GMT Total Posts: 214 | well i used comand prompt, but i got to a part where it sed Syntax : romdump [filename] [size] [com port] then it sez C:\DOCUME~1\Jon> , which is me. Now wut? |
alex10819 Wraith Posted: 2 Apr 2005 12:55 GMT Total Posts: 507 | in the readme file, there is a list of file sizes for each type of Calc.
so you type it in exactly the way it asks... for example: romdump TI83DUMP XXXXXXXX COM3 |
Jonny23451 Ultralisk Posted: 2 Apr 2005 13:04 GMT Total Posts: 214 | It sez it's not a recognizable
C:\DOCUME~1\Jon>romdump TI83DUMP 262144 COM1 'romdump' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
I know nothing of computers...

Jonny23451 Ultralisk Posted: 2 Apr 2005 13:09 GMT Total Posts: 214 | sure, i'll help out
anyways, i got an 83+ |
korkow Ultralisk Posted: 2 Apr 2005 13:09 GMT Total Posts: 465 | Jonny, I have two questions. a) What like cable are you using and b) are you trying to dump a "TI-83", or a "TI-83+"?
You can't dump the ROM if you only have the Silverlink USB cable. Only the serial and parralell links work. |
alex10819 Wraith Posted: 2 Apr 2005 13:11 GMT Total Posts: 507 | wait... what directory do you have the romdump in? |
Jonny23451 Ultralisk Posted: 2 Apr 2005 13:12 GMT Total Posts: 214 | wut do u mean wut directory? I have the program file in my calculator...... Do you have AIM? cuz it would be easier to talk to you |

Jonny23451 Ultralisk Posted: 2 Apr 2005 13:20 GMT Total Posts: 214 | Korkov, i got an 83+, and wuts a parralel link, and i have a silver graph link. I've done it before for the game Racer X. Look at Ticalc.org |

Posted: 2 Apr 2005 13:56 GMT Total Posts: 61 | If you have the Silver link cable that connects to the USB port on your computer, you cannot do a rom dump. You need either the parallel link cable, which is a handmade cable that splices a cut up small calc-calc link into the parallel (printer) port on your computer. It's the big long plug in the back with a whole bunch of holes in it. The other option is the serial link, which is sold by TI and links into the serial port on the back of your computer (looks like parallel port, but not as long).
Although you may have used your silver cable to transfer programs to or from your calculator, it cannot be used for the rom dump. I am not sure if this is simply because no one has written a program to dump from the usb cable (which i suspect), or if it has to do with some technological limitation (which i doubt). |
Jonny23451 Ultralisk Posted: 2 Apr 2005 14:13 GMT Total Posts: 214 | soooo...unless i do that i can't do a thing. Well that sucks. how do i make a homeade one? |

Morgan Ultralisk Posted: 2 Apr 2005 18:55 GMT Total Posts: 321 | TILP allows the dumping of roms with the USB link. However only rom versions 1.12 or lower will work with VTI 2.5 which is the emulator you are most likely want to be using. |
alex10819 Wraith Posted: 4 Apr 2005 13:20 GMT Total Posts: 507 | Morgan, you said it could dump through USB? i guess that still doesnt allow 84... |
Morgan Ultralisk Posted: 4 Apr 2005 14:01 GMT Total Posts: 321 | There would be no point, no emulator works for the 84 series.
You can already download the 84 rom from TI. That is what you are downloading when you get the new OS when they come out. I am fairly sure that the Flash Debugger which comes with its own emulator will work with the 84 series, right now that would be your only option.

alex10819 Wraith Posted: 4 Apr 2005 14:03 GMT Total Posts: 507 | i know... but that cant last forever can it? with any luck, some one will come up with a patch within the year... i could seriously use a VTI type program with support for my 84... |
Morgan Ultralisk Posted: 5 Apr 2005 00:59 GMT Total Posts: 321 | Don't give your hopes up. I think the whole community is waiting for this unholy God related emulator that will emulate and Rom version for any calc and support all, asm/flash/basic with linking and the works...however we are all in denail.
for the mean time the flash debugger emaultor will emulate everything you need. |
Jonny23451 Ultralisk Posted: 5 Apr 2005 11:51 GMT Total Posts: 214 | If you were able to take pics, how would you be able to get Mirage OS or other systems like that onto the Virtual TI, so you can take pics of like Mario, or something like that. |
Morgan Ultralisk Posted: 5 Apr 2005 12:07 GMT Total Posts: 321 | With version 2.5 you can take pics of Mario just by lading Ion, Mario, and the cooresponding levels you needed. The same would work for the TI Flash Debugger Emulator.
For Version 3.0 of VTI you need to make a rom dump of your calculator with the files already installed on yur calculator that you will need to use since it only allows the installation of APPS and no other files. Other files will run if they are already included in the rom dump. |
Morgan Ultralisk Posted: 5 Apr 2005 12:10 GMT Total Posts: 321 | If you need some screenshots made, ust send me the program and I can make up some pretty spiffy ones for you.
And this goes out to everyone, if you want your program screenshotted with the "POTY Winner" border on it, I'd be glad to do that too for a small donation fee :-) |
Jonny23451 Ultralisk Posted: 5 Apr 2005 13:53 GMT Total Posts: 214 | Ok, could you make one for some of the Gold Rush : Lost World Levels? Thanx, and wut fee? I hope ur kidding :) |
Morgan Ultralisk Posted: 5 Apr 2005 18:49 GMT Total Posts: 321 | Here ya go! I got them on the site too:
http://www.calcgames.org/cgi-bin/files/files.cgi?ID=786. As far as me dying on the first, in my defense I was trying to play on an emualtor which is somewhat more difficult.
As far as that fee I was talking about. That would be for these types of screenshots. |
Jonny23451 Ultralisk Posted: 5 Apr 2005 18:55 GMT Total Posts: 214 | Morgan, you are amazing... How do you do that? Is there a bug for it? I still don't understand the whole rom dump thing. I did it once and never botehred with it again. I don't get how to get Mirage on there. I never used ION, so I dunno about that either. I can't get like Mirage onto the VTI. |
Morgan Ultralisk Posted: 5 Apr 2005 19:21 GMT Total Posts: 321 | I used VTI 2.5 and the Ion shell. Something weird happened in that it would only let me send 2 of the 4 files to the emulator, thus the two I emulated. |
Jonny23451 Ultralisk Posted: 5 Apr 2005 19:32 GMT Total Posts: 214 | Where can you get this VTI 2.5 and Ion Shell. How do you get the ion shell in the calculator in the first place? |
Jonny23451 Ultralisk Posted: 5 Apr 2005 19:38 GMT Total Posts: 214 | oh nvm i have VTI V2.5. But how did u load the Ion shell in it? |
Morgan Ultralisk Posted: 5 Apr 2005 19:55 GMT Total Posts: 321 | Right click on the screen and click "Send file to..."
Ion can be found here: http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/130/13058.html |
Jonny23451 Ultralisk Posted: 5 Apr 2005 19:58 GMT Total Posts: 214 | yes, but it won't like show up in the Applications folder. I got it in the calc, and it sez it's installed. But now wut? |

Morgan Ultralisk Posted: 6 Apr 2005 00:55 GMT Total Posts: 321 | Yes Ion is not a flash APP. go to the programs list and run 'prgmIon' then after it says installed go back to the program menu and run 'prgmA' which will start the shell if there are programs on the calc for Ion. |
Jonny23451 Ultralisk Posted: 6 Apr 2005 13:56 GMT Total Posts: 214 | Finally, it worked. THANX! |
Jonny23451 Ultralisk Posted: 6 Apr 2005 14:19 GMT Total Posts: 214 | One problem...I can't get any of my levels that are like above 6K into the calc, no memory. But when I archive Mario, Ion duzn't pick it up and I can't open it up. Soooo...is there a solution to that? |
alex10819 Wraith Posted: 6 Apr 2005 14:31 GMT Total Posts: 507 | on your emulator? it shouldnt only have 6k of memory... if so, something is seriously wrong there... (cough... delete stuff... cough...) |
Jonny23451 Ultralisk Posted: 6 Apr 2005 14:47 GMT Total Posts: 214 | ur back alex! It has like 24000 free RAm, but when I try archiving Mario, I can't play it on the emulator. SOOOOOO... |

Jonny23451 Ultralisk Posted: 16 Apr 2005 18:17 GMT Total Posts: 214 | one more quetion...is there anyway to get it so you canp lay Mirage games inside the VTI, and wut is a good rate for asm games. Like, 160 fps...er something like that. |
Andy Administrator Posted: 16 Apr 2005 19:01 GMT Total Posts: 939 | Neither version of VTI allows sending both Applications and Variables to the calculator. 2.5 can send variables; 3.0 can send Apps. If you want to play MirageOS games, you have to either use TiLem or the FLASH Debugger. |
