File Description: | MirageOS is another popular shell like ION but only for TI-83+/SE calculator which have Flash technology. MirageOS is a very versatile shell and offers you everything from detailed file information, file sorting, a folder based GUI to password protection, file management options and file icons. Although this shell is much easier to install than ION, it takes over 16 kb of Flash memory which may be important for 83+ users.
Below are the added features for MirageOS 1.2: -BASIC programs now work on all hardware/operating system combinations. -Smart writeback only writes data back to archive if necessary. -A much faster sorting algorithm. -TI-84 Plus compatibility. |

I haven't tried ION but this is really good. I put my games in one folder, school stuff in a folder, things like word processing and stuff in another, and it all works out great. You should download this, especially if you have a lot of games and stuff. Also there are a lot of really good games written specifically for it that you can't run without it.

Mirage OS is great for all programs, Basic and Asm. (to use basic progs with it, enter :"prog. description on the first line of program) Very easy to use and ensures that your basic programs will not be erased in the constant RAM clearing that occurs on calcs when programs mess up. To me, size of a program means nothing (ti 84 plus se has 1.5 mb of archive space), but I don't think it wastes memory.
One upgrade I'd like to see: Ability to access archived programs by other archived programs.

MirageOS is one of the best operating systems available for the TI-83+/SE. You'll need this to play lots of cool games like Phoenix, Super Mario, and many others. It also allows you to type lower-case letters after exiting out of the program.
I've never seen anyone use an operating system other than this one. If you don't have MirageOS, please download this now!

Awesome Application, and easy to use. But, if you don't get the manual (you got it from somebody else), it is hard to learn all the controls, exect the basic ones, as in enter, up and down, and the F1-5 keys. they dont give the whole web address, i don't think.

This is an awesome shell for TI-83+'s. It's options are versitile and easily understood. When it's running BASIC games, sometimes it screws up, but not major like screwing up. However, as mentioned, the 16k of space it takes up may be an issue with the 83+, is you have a silver edition, then 16k is nothing. So if you have alot of science programs or math programs, or otherwise pressed for space, i'd choose Ion, personally. But try it. It's cool.
