Would you buy this? spiral Practically the same, i see little that makes it worth buying, or not buying. Oh, btw, HP released a new one, the 49G+, has an ARM9(or 7?) processor. 75 mhz. Has like 2 mb. rom, too bad everybody only makes games for TI 26 Oct 2003, 21:47 GMT

Would you buy this? Digital I tried a mild search for HP programming in ASM or another low or high level language and I came up with nothing. Its an ARM9 75MHz proc. Would you buy this? bmorrise This is actually the same TI-89. It's the color scheme they sell in other countries. I was over in Russia last year and I saw one there and wondered why the color was different. I did a little research and found out that it's the foreign version. 27 Oct 2003, 07:44 GMT

Would you buy this? zkostik The new hp still has a crappy screen, despite its new proc upgrade. I've been doing some research and its very possible to create a super calc with a nice arm processor, color screen, sound and even backlight for under $160. Counting all the software, a $200 or so price tag is possible to be achieved. This is just a theory, but something awesome is possible and can still be affordable. Always jacked up prices on graphing calcs always put me in question, why is it so expensive? I guess they just charge so much for the software since hardware is pretty cheap. The site seems to be chech btw. EDIT: I'm just curious, what was the price in rubbles for a TI-89 there? It's cool that graphing calcs reacher many other countries btw. Would you buy this? spiral For only 40 dollars (or 20 with discount) than the retail price of the 89 or Silver edition. You can get a pocket PC or Palm Pilot, with nearly 5x the resolution (6 for Palm), color, backlight, card expandibility. They also have touch screens and more organizer abilities. Some free calculators match the abilities of a graphing calculator (still easier to use TI-OS though) The reasons to get a graphing calculator now is if you like the tactile feel of keys, sometimes math functions work better, all programs are free. Would you buy this? spiral Umm...it quite clearly says on the site 784 kB of ROM. If you're talking about total (no OS) I believe the black has 2 MB too. (Btw, a lowercase b means BITS, and uppercase means BYTES) so 2 megabits would only be 256 kilobytes - not enough to store TIOS. 29 Oct 2003, 10:16 GMT

Would you buy this? spiral I agree with Z, manufacturers rip you off a considerable amount of actual useable space by counting 1 gigabyte as 1000 megs when it shoudl be 1024 (or do they do 1 megabyte is 1000 kilobytes?). Add FAT formatting onto that, and you've lost even more space. I don't get what you're talking about calcfreak? teh calculator looks valid, I bet therea re 2 MB of rom in it. Would you buy this? Digital Yeah, it bugs the heck out of me that HDD manufactureers use i GB as 1 billiob bytes instead of 1073741824 bytes. C'mon, they are making stuff for a digital environment, which uses base 2 instead of base 10. Would you buy this? Digital Tell me about it. I own two 128 MB cards, each only 122 MB formated, and two 256 MB cards, each only 243 MB formatted. Considering I take digital pictures averaging 2.2 MB each in jpg format, that is ~17 picutres I can't take. Granted I can fit ~45 pics on my 12s and ~90 on my 256s, but you'd be supprised of how much of a difference that can make in the photography business. 30 Oct 2003, 21:31 GMT

However, you're most likely visiting the English language site intended for Americans. The calculator in the link is intended for non-U.S. consumers. It's safe to buy; in fact, it's probably the version of the TI-89 that most Europeans buy. It's no big deal, really. TI is definitely not changing the U.S. version.
