Welcome George/Redux! It's nice to have a dedicated news editor, since I'm adverse to posting news, especially since it means I have to switch back to IE *shudder*
Hey D, does the news thing work in Safari btw? I'm just wondering if it did coz I didn't feel like spending extra time to ensure cross-browser compatibility and I'm only able to test in Windoze NS/IE, Linux Conqueror and Solaris NS.
I can't say for certain about Safari, but the news doesn't work quite right in Mozilla, On the other hand, everything works quite well in Opera, which has become my browser of choice. There's a good chance of news working in other browsers besides IE.
correct.... and it'd be a very big pain to fix this....
honestly i'd rather have news discussion be seperate from the forum... and have it be nested discussion or whatever you call it with parent comments etc... like ticalc.org.
i haven't got around to coding something like that... and i don't plan to any time soon. (hint hint, anyone who wants to make one that uses our user database and our site theme (no we don't want to customize a different one, we want one made from scratch))
i used to have a perl script lying around somewhere that does that. i have not idea where it went though. i was a basic thereaded forum (like a file in in windows explorer). though, i think we should stick to our official forum instead of making another one. it'll be much easier that way. speaking of news script, i might make it cross-browser compatible but i'l like to be sure its needed before i spend the time doing that.
