 | Hey, I'm having issues backing up my data using TIConnect so I can upgrade the OS and so forth. I'm using the black USB cable that came with the calculator. When I go to TI Backup, it recognizes the current device as "TI-84 Plus Silver Edition" everything's selected to back up. Hit OK, it says "Starting transfer"...then the error message comes up:
"Unable to complete the transfer. One or more flash application variables with the same name already exist on the device.

If you have a different cable (Silver Link, Black, or Gray), then a retry with that cable might be successful."

Do I need to purchase a different type of cable? I already followed the instructions for reinstalling the USB drivers, but do I need to try something else like reinstalling TIConnect? Some of the functions in TIConnect like setting the time and getting screenshots work fine, so that confuses me even further. I can provide additional information if needed. Thanks much.

 | What AppVars do you have on your calculator?

 | It sounds to me like it's yelling about, say, a MirageOS App and a MirageOS AppVar (with the same capitalization). It's yelled at me before about that with my 83+; perhaps that's what's going on here. Try deleting your MirageOS AppVar (the one with only a 2-digit size, not 5 digits) and try backing up again.
If that doesn't help, let us know and we'll try to figure something else out.

 | Perhaps it's worth noting that this is a brand new calculator. Nothing has been added to it, no programs/games/OSes anything. I've had it two days and today was the first day I decided to start trying it out. It's just the stock programs that came with it. |

 | Personally, I've _never_ had an OS upgrade delete any Flash Apps or portions of my archive, so I say don't worry about it too much. |

 | Yeah, the OS updates actually only clear your RAM. |
