So my TI-84+ could potentially do symbolic algebra? My understanding is the 92 and others have this CAS thing but the 84 and lower don't, but it could be emulated through shell?

What shell do I need? Your website has shells listed for all the other TI's but not the TI-84+.

You don't need a shell. Try Pretty Print… if you want this functionality outside of the Pretty Print application, get Symbolic as well. To use it through Symbolic, press [MATH] twice and navigate two menus over to pretty(. Input equations as strings.
