Is there a way to get solve( (x+2)(x+2),x,?,{-E9,E9} ) to give -2 without setting ? to -2?

Thanks,

You don't want to use solve( for quadratic equations. Perhaps a quadratic solver?

-quoted directly from most movies that don't exist (and some that do).

What I want to do is write a program for the 83/84 to solve general equations (not just quadratic or polynomial), but any type that may or may not have a double root. As you know double roots may cause a NO SIGN CHNG error. That is what I want to avoid.

Thanks,
Joe
